"I wiped away the tears from my face, but they just kept coming. "Get out! Your mom never would've loved a fag like you!" the words still ringing in my head, salty tears stinging my cheeks. I felt a hand raise above my head, his shadow hovering over me like hawk. I tried covering my face bu-...
I took a sharp breath in and my eyes shot open, springing up from where I was laying. That's the third time tonight. Taking a deep breath I started to lie back down, until a loud noise startled me. I jumped to the sound of my alarm going off.
Asking nothing, leave me be
Taking everything in my stride
Don't need reason, don't need rhyme
Ain't nothing I would rather do
Going down, party time
I rolled my eyes to the sound of classic rock music blaring early in the morning.
My friends are gonna be there too
I'm on the HIGHWAY TO HE-
I hit the snooze button on my alarm, 11:20 am. After a while I got out of my warm bed and threw on a baggy t-shirt and blue jeans. I heard the normal loud voices coming from downstairs. I rubbed my eyes and began walking downstairs. The smell of stale coffee filled my nose.
"Good afternoon Castiel!" Gabriel said a little too chipper.
I looked at him confused, I thought it was only- you looked at a clock and sure enough it was past noon. How long was I laying in bed?
"Yeah." Gabe said sarcastically.
I walked over to the pot of coffee that was from about nine in the morning, and poured coffee into a mug. I walked to the table almost gulping down the cool liquid. My siblings were talking around me which I did not pay attention to a word they said. My sister Anna, could talk for hours, whether it was auguring, which it usually was, or just having a conversation with someone. She is the oldest so you think she would tire out of talking but nope. My younger brother Gabe, must have looked up to Anna or still does because he almost talks more than she does. If he's not talking he's either pulling a prank or eating something. I must say, he is surprisingly thin. Finally my brother who is almost a year older than me, Lucifer, or we call him Luci. He's often out at parties and once had a nickname "Devil of the party" which did make a whole lot of sense. I snapped back to reality as Luci was talking to me.
"Did you find anything on houses last night?"
We've only been in this apartment for about a week, it was terribly small for 4 people. It was just my apartment until my siblings decided to have a surprise visit, and basically move in. They are my family and of course I let them stay with me, also because I knew why they weren't living at home anymore.
"umm, yeah actually. It's in Lawrence, about 3 hours from here, 4 bedrooms, 2 bath. The guy who owned it died a few weeks ago, the family is selling the house for pretty cheap, I say we check it out as soon as possible. It's a good neighborhood."
By now everyone was listening and we all agreed to get ready and leave in 10. I kept the clothes I had on only tucking in the front of my shirt and trying to slick back my hair, failing as it would just pop back up. Not like this was a fancy outing or anything, besides we were driving three hours it was bound to get messed up by the time we got out there.
*three hours later*
I was driving in Anna's 2009 Honda, which honestly disgusts me, but I was the one who knew where the house was so I was obligated to drive. I see the two story house I'm looking for and park in the driveway, a mile or two back I got a key from the family that belongs to the house. Luci, Gabe, Anna and I walk up to the house and put the key in the lock. Once we got inside everyone pretty much split up and went exploring around the house. 'NO LUCI, I CALLED THIS ROOM FIRST!' you hear Gabe from upstairs. I laughed at their augment as we didn't even buy the house yet. I decide to look outside and get some fresh air since the house smelled like a cloud of smoke. The owner probably died of some kind of sickness caused by smoking cause man, did it smell, nothing a few candles won't fix. I smiled to myself and breathed in the air, it smelt cleaner over here, sure of hell did not smell like factories or the city. That's probably one thing I won't miss about living in the city.
Everyone was done looking around and I think we all wanted this house, bad. I called up the family and they surprisingly did not ask any questions. They said we could move in by Monday, later did I realize we would be going to a new school, only to find out that the beginning of a new school year started that same day. Great a new school.
We went back home shortly after, I kept the key considering we did buy the house. It wasn't gonna take long to pay off the mortgage, turns out when Anna left home she took almost a quarter of a million dollars from our step-dad. Tomorrow was Monday and we all wanted to move out of the shared apartment as fast as we could. We were packing for almost 3 hours before I decided to call it a night and my siblings followed.
I went up to my room, it looked so bare. All the books and movies we're removed from their place, posters and pictures no longer on the walls, there was even a big empty space on my desk where my computer used to be. I've lived in this apartment for almost 2 years and as much as it had its problems I was gonna miss the old junker. I didn't bother changing my clothes, all I did was remove my pants, sleeping in my boxers. I slowly drifted to sleep dreaming of only good memories.
