(Riley's POV)

'And that's when I felt it. Deep in my heart.  The feeling no one could ignore, the feeling I didn't want to share with him, the feeling I couldn't share with him.... the feeling many call love. But it was there.... and it was the most amazing feeling I've experienced.'

That. I applaud you Author person. Amazing book. Now that I've finished reading, time to shower.

And so I showered, throwing on some clothes. Nothing fancy, just some normal everyday jeans, and a thin navy blue shirt.  In this Summer heat, I would probably die with a heavyweight shirt.

Any way, I don't think I'll go outside for a full week.  I'd rather stay in the cool air conditioned house, with a fridge packed to the bursting point of hot pockets.  That's an exaggeration, we don't really have that many hot pockets, I wish.

"Riley! Can you come down stairs please!" My mom yelled

"Is that an order!?"

"I MEANS COME DOWN THE STAIRS BEFORE I COUNT TO THREE!"

"NO I WANT TO REBEL! YOUR SILLY NUMBERS HAVE NO AUTHORITY OVER MY ACTIONS" My god I need to lower my sarcasm levels, this isn't normal.

"Child, just get down here!" She yelled exasperated

Being the amazingly, wonderful child I am, I graciously did what my mother had asked. "So mom what did you want?"

"Kayla, your cousin is having a pool party, you want to go?" No not Kayla.  Just no.

"no"

"Good, I told her you were coming, she'll be here to pick you up in an hour. Grab a swimsuit, sunscreen, and your water wings, momma doesn't want her little baby girl getting hurt."  She said in a baby voice pinching my cheeks, barf.

"Fine I'll go to the party, but just because you mentioned water wings. I love those things. I could wear them all the time. Even with formal attire. You know what, I'm gonna wear them to my wedding. So elegant in a white gown, then my beautiful green water wings will illuminate. I will be the most gorgeous bride." I said using more sarcasm.

"No one will marry you if you're gonna be like that." She whispered under her breath, shoving a beach bag in my face.

That was my cue to start the process of packing.  I ran upstairs into my room, filling the bag with the necessities.  Extra tampons, not that I need them myself but if there is an accident in the pool, if ya catch my drift. My swimsuit of course, a two piece that covers my stomach. Leave everybody with a little mystery as to what is under there.  Anyway, now what else? Oh, sunscreen, maybe sunglasses too. I'll bring some money, you know I might get hungry.

That's all I really need, guess I'm done. Time to wait outside, fresh air sounds good.

............

I've been sitting outside on the porch steps for 20 minutes now because my mom locked me out. She's currently laughing at me from the window, thanks mom...

"You look a little unhappy there, neighbor." Someone to the left called.  His voice sounded like it belonged to a guy.

I looked up, only to see a blurry silhouette of a person, his appearance blocked by the blinding light of the sun. I looked down to stop my eyes from hurting. "Yeah, locked out of the house. I'm just waiting for my ride to get here."

"Oh, where you going?" I looked up again, still blinded by the sun, trying to figure out who he was. Although, I'm 98% sure he's a neighbor.

"Just to the pool, why?"

"Well I was wondering if you wanted my to give you a ride? I'd rather drive you there than let you sit in this heat. If it's the pool it's definitely not out of my way, I promise."  I glanced up again, this time he was closer, making it easier to see.  Once I realized who it was, my mind just froze up. It was the guy I saw yesterday, you know, the one I was gawking at.

"N-no, it's fine." I squeaked. Boys make me nervous. Also, people other than friends and family make me nervous. "My ride will be here soon."

"Are you sure, I don't want to just leave you here." He stood there for a second, definitely contemplating over something. "How about I just stay with you on these steps?"

"If you want, I guess." No please don't, I'm going to embarrass myself in front of you.

"So, what's your name? I'm Luke, and I live right over yonder." He joked pointing to the house next door.

"I'm Riley, and I live, uh... here." Copying his introduction, or at least trying to.

After a chuckle from the some-what stranger next to me. there was a silence that followed. Not an awkward silence, but a nice quiet thought filled silence.

"Luke, why haven't I seen you around before?" It just struck me as odd that I had never met my extremely hot neighbor. I would remember that.

"Well, I'm just here for the summer. I live in Australia, but my parents wanted to vacation in the states. So, I'm here." The whole time he talked he looked at the ground, biting his lip.

"Australia, huh? I've never been out of the country, sounds like a fun summer. You know, to be in a new place."

"It wasn't as fun at first, but as the days go by I'm finding something new to keep me occupied." This time he looked up at me, like he was going to say something else, but was stopped by a car horn.

Glancing up I recognize the driver, cousin Kayla. "Hey, I have to go Luke. That's my ride." I continued motioning to the car, "It was nice meeting you!" I wave jumping in the passenger seat.

He had replied back, but I couldn't hear what he said due to the distance, and a door. Whatever it was, he waved and smiled, me doing the same.

.........

(Luke's POV)

"Hey, I have to go, Luke. That's my ride." She pointed toward the car which had just pulled up. "It was nice meeting you!"

Before I'd even said my goodbye she was in the car...

Smiling, I waved, "Nice meeting you too, beautiful......"
