(AN: this chapter is going to be in Phil's POV, but just this one for now. If any others in the future are going to be in a different person's POV, it will be noted in italics before the chapter starts.)
Phil
I hadn't talked to Dan at all yet today. I decided to go by there. It was late, but sometimes he's awake by now. I didn't really need to ask to leave the house. My mum was sick in the hospital, and my dad didn't really care. Once my mom started getting sick, he began drinking. He wasn't even home himself, so I just grabbed a jumper and left.
It was dark. Then again, it was past midnight. I looked around me, the soft glow of the moon lighting my path through the trees, my feet clicking along the path.
Eventually, I make it to Dan's. There's a tree that, if you climb it, it leads straight onto the roof right next to Dan's window on the second floor. I begin tapping his window, seeing him lying on his bed, thinking he's just staring at the wall. He doesn't reply at first, so I keep tapping. Eventually, he stirs, comes to open the window, and let's me in.
We go over and sit on his bed. He seems upset about something. He doesn't really talk at first. Then he asks me how my mum's doing. I tell him she's still the same, and that my dad isn't even around anymore, either. Once I finish talking about my not-that-interesting home life, Dan falls silent again.
I pick back up on our conversation, asking how his day went. He started talking, saying it was going great. But my heart dropped when he said "Until now..."
"Why? What happend?" My voice kind of shy and timid.
"My parents excused themselves from dinner early, went in the next room, and started talking. They apparently thought I couldn't hear them, but I heard every word. They're calling me crazy because I keep talking to you, they want to send me away. They say I need help," he spits out in a jumbled mess. I can hear his voice beginning to crack.
He tries to continue on in speaking, but he ends up crying. I try to calm him down, rubbing his back a bit. Eventually, he lays down, turning away from me. I continue in rubbing his back, tracing down his arms, too. Later on, I lay down beside him, wrapping my arm around his torso. I bring my free hand up to lightly smooth his hair.
He begins to calm down, steadying his breathing to match mine. I begin to think he's asleep, still playing with his hair. I'm about to fall asleep myself, until I hear Dan mumble something.
I can't quite make out exactly what he said, but I definitely heard "love" and "you", so I say the only thing that comes to my mind.
"I love you too."

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've updated again, school's just been really stressful. I was hoping to have another part updated maybe in the middle of the week, but that didn't happen because of homework. I'm hoping that I can maybe get a more organized updating schedule now that it's the second semester and nothing is that intense right now. Hope you enjoy!
