"Freak"
Kellan's POV
It was lunch time and I was not excited in the least. I hadn't really made any other friends aside from the trio I'd met in second period yet I had no clue if I shared my lunch period with any of them. I approached the double doors with apprehension, the halls empty seeing as I had stayed behind in my previous class to see what I would have to do in terms of catching up on the almost three months I've missed. I took a deep breath and was about to place my hands on the intimidating wooden doors when a dark, strong looking hand did the job for me, appearing from over my shoulder.
I let out an embarrassing sounding squeak and jump slightly, eyes wide and heart beating erratically - I had not been expecting that! I hear a deep chuckle behind me and look over my shoulder to see Morgan standing there, a brow raised and a smirk on his lips. I give him a pout and let out a relieved sigh before scooting over to the side so that Morgan wasn't standing so close behind me. The warmth radiating off of his body onto my back was a little too comforting and unless I wanted to do something embarrassing - like leaning back against Morgan's broad, muscular chest, moving was the best option.
"You first." I tell him, motioning with my hand for him to go in and he gives another throaty laugh before walking through the open doorway, me following close behind. "Thank god i have lunch with you, I thought I'd be all alone to fend for myself!" I add with a little bit of an exaggerated tone and he shakes his head, and leads me over to one of the many lunch lines. There are many places to eat in this school it seems and there doesn't seem to be one of them that isn't as popular as the next - they all have lines upon lines of students.
"Yeah, Charles and Finnley have B lunch. So while we're here eating, they are in fourth period and then vice versa for us when they go to lunch." He explained and I nodded my head in understanding though I bit preoccupied with looking at the delicious food that they had out on display for us to choose. I wasn't really expecting for the food to look as good as it did, something in the back of my mind told me that usually school food was just barely above the bar of edibility. Maybe that was the situation at the school I used to go to, wherever that had been, but then again, this was one of those school's.
When both Morgan and I had our food on our trays and paid for he led me over to an empty rounded table and sat down, motioning for me to take the seat next to his. I obeyed without a word and sat, digging into my food almost immediately, letting out a little noise at both the taste and because I was so hungry and was finally eating. When I looked over to Morgan to state the obvious about how good the food was - because why wouldn't he already know? - I saw the dark look in his eyes and froze. I wanted to ask him what was the matter but he cleared his head and began to eat and the moment was lost. I dropped the issue and instead asked him why he didn't sit with anyone else.
"I don't really know, it just happened. I mean, I can't say that I'm some type of social outcast but I don't really like to mix with most of the guys here. I don't know what it is but they tend to be... over masculine? I guess. They try too hard to be the manliest man, seeing as this is an all boys school and sometimes it can get very, very annoying." He scoffed as he seemed to think of something else as he took a bite of his pasta. "It seems that I'm also a bit too intimidating for some of the guys here so they try to avoid me all the same."
This made me giggle, not the manliest thing, I know, but I couldn't help it. Guys were so weird, caring more about their status then making friends and having good connections with people. I'd much rather make friends than isolate myself because they might be more 'manly' than me. But then again, like Morgan said, sometimes you can't have the best of both worlds. Either they ignore you because they don't like you or you ignore them because you don't like them. I didn't think I'd have the same problem as Morgan though.
