{Amelia's POV}

" Some people may not even know they have depression and that can lead to higher chances of suicide. Another way to prevent it, is by knowing signs of it. You guys are going to take an online quiz that determines if you are depressed or not"  The doctor instructed.

Today in Aikaville Middle School, a doctor came to discuss depression and how it leads to suicide. This was one of the activities. All of the students thought it was stupid because there was only one week of school left and they are bringing up suicide. But we have to do it, so we deal with it.

The assembly was over and it was time for lunch. The short relief of the day. I meet up with my friends at the normal spot we eat lunch, a metal picnic table under a big tree, and we talk about the quiz.

My friend Grace was the first one to talk. She had dirty blond hair with blue eyes and almost always wore earbuds listening to the most unimaginable, weirdest music ever. The looks that people walking by give  her while she sings out loud is priceless.

"So," Grace begins," what'd you get on the quiz? I got depression! I knew it! I am a genius," she states as she throws her hands in the air in triumph. We all laugh as Max says his answer.

Max is short and a little chubby. He has black hair with gel and brown eyes. He has tan skinned and an awesome Harry Potter backpack.

"I got not depressed because my blood and brain is filled with sugar and Harry Potter and I couldn't be happier" He jumps up and down almost dropping his lunch while we all give him weird looks, "What? Grace can do it but I can't?"

"No, you can't weirdo. Now sit down and eat your food" I say," I got minor depression but it's no big deal"

I thought it was no big deal but I was met with weird eyes from everyone else. All of sudden, my friend Suflé jumped out of her seat and ran towards me.

"No, Amelia! You can't do this!" she shouts,"Your life is too precious! You're supposed to be the happy and responsible one and tell us good advice and do stupid stuff" She says it all as she fake cries and even goes on her knees but quickly gets up to return to the shade. It is hot here in California.

Suflé has long brown hair and brown eyes. She is the most positive one in our little friend group. Though she is so happy, if you get her mad run as far as you can.

"Hey, Highlighter," I shout to my friend," What'd you get?"

Highlighter is not his real name. Nobody knows his real name. He didn't tell anyone. When we met him, he asked us to give him a nickname. I suggested highlighter, because he has pink and orange hair. There was no other suggestions so we stuck with it. Highlighter as you know, has orange and pink hair. He is really short and skinny and wears a black and gray beanie with a skull on it.

"I got not depressed, so I'm good" he says very suspiciously as he keeps looking all around him.

He stopped and then all of a sudden his brother ,Puma, jumps out of the bushes and scares him. They start shouting and bickering until they calm down and stop.

This week, Highlighter and Puma were having a little prank war and doing stupid stuff. Friday was the last day, and we were all so happy.

Puma has blond hair and blue eyes. He's a lot more mysterious then his brother Highlighter. They both refused to give their names and Puma asked to be called Puma.

The only thing everybody wore different was their jackets. We had to wear school uniforms. Fortunately for us, the school wasn't too strict. They had days where you can wear a different shirt and even non-uniform wrist bands, which was amazing.

The day was finished and Puma, Highlighter, Grace and I went to the park. To be more accurate, Grace and I went to the church next to the park while Highlighter went home and Puma joined his other friends doing stupid stuff.

All Grace and I did was talk and I listened to her play her trumpet. I looked down at my phone and noticed I only had 18% so I said goodbye to Grace and started walking home.

I got back home after listening to the wonderful music played by Grace, plugged my phone into the charger, changed my clothes and just relaxed. About 3 hours later, I got a text from Suflé telling me to come over as soon as possible. I grabbed a jacket, told my parents I was going, hopped on my bike and rode as fast as I could to her house that was only 1 mile away.

I got there in 5 minutes, dropped my bike by the door and was immediately greeted by Suflé. She grabbed my arm and pulled me inside and rushed or dragged me in more accurate words to her room.

I loved Suflé's room. It is amazing. She has a queen sized bed with a floral pattern on it, 6 bean bags which surround a 50" flatscreen, her own bathroom, a walk in closet with a full length mirror, a high tech gaming computer, and her own mini fridge filled with soda and snacks.

I was greeted by all my other friends who were sitting in the beanbags. I sat down next to Grace while Suflé turned on her TV which was displaying a PowerPoint. It says Shut Up, you're not depressed.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask

Everybody turns to me and Suflé answers, "Well, since you are depressed we are going to spend the entire summer cheering you up with amazing activities. We you know you really aren't, but we just wanted our parents to fund all this. You being "depressed" was a good excuse. We already told your parents. It's gonna be great."

"Wait, you told my parents I was depressed when I wasn't?"

"Yeah, we didn't think that through"

"It's fine, I'll explain I am not depressed and they would be happy that I will be out of the house instead of playing video games all summer. It's fine, everybody. So what are these activities?"

She points at the screen and lists all the activities

Week 1- Sky Diving, Scuba Diving,  Parkour, River Treasure Hunting, Camping for 3 days

Week 2- Pranks

Week 3- Go to Japan, Climb Mt. Fuji, eat as much sushi at a restaurant, go to Anime hot spots, play Pokémon Go, climb on buildings, eat crazy Japanese candy

Week 4- Splatoon and Mario Kart tournament

Week 5- Spend a week in an abandoned hotel

Week 6- tell you crush you like them, do one of everything from the other weeks

"Um," I say "I think the last one is a little impossible for me. I don't want to say who my crush is"

"You are the most social one in our group. You got this! Plus, it is only 7 weeks away. We have one more week of school and 6 weeks for you to get courage." Grace says trying to encourage me.

"Okay, but you guys are all saying this to your crushes right?"

"Yeah, but not me. I don't have a crush"

"Lucky you"

"Suflé," we heard a voice shout.

"The pizzas arrived!"

Pizza

The one word that will lift my spirits. Also ice cream, but that's two words.

"Coming mom," Suflé shouts.

I can not wait for this week of school to be over.

A/N

I do not mean to offend anybody going through depression. If I did, I'm incredibly sorry. Since this is such a delicate subject, I will be doing my best not to offend anybody. I am a hundred percent sure there will be no more big talks about depression, maybe just small stuff but nothing big.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my first chapter and are willing to stick around for the rest of this book. I will be updating as much as I can but school is my number one priority.

Enjoy :)
