It has been three months since I've seen Yu.

It has been three months since I've left without a return.

it has been three months since I've been living back in Atlanta.

I'm rushing to put my clothes on. I am officially late to work. I lace my shoes, grab my keys, and speed-walk out the house. I get into my 2010 silver Toyota Camry & start the engine.

Twenty minutes later, I arrive at Footlocker.

I walk in, clock in, and stand behind the counter.

After 45 minutes, a customer comes in.

He looked vaguely familiar. He walked over to the counter, "Can I get some assistance... Lace ..... Lacey Matthews?"

"Huh, how do yo- ... Jay?" I say in disbelief. He smiled his million dollar smile that I haven't seen since, well, forever.

"Yeah, girl. What's up with you? very since you went ghost, you haven't hit the kid up." he said.

"Well, I went back to Columbus .. and I didn't think you wanted to talk to me anymore since, you know .. Aja." I said kind of disappointed.

"Yeah, Aja." he said even more disappinted. I didn't bother to ask why he sounded that way. "But, yeah. You need anything? I can't sit and lounge with non-customers."

"Well, yeah. Size 10 Galaxy Kevin Durants?" "Okay, we dot have those in stock right now.." I say scanning the shelves. "But, we will tomorrow around 10ish. Anything else?" I say looking back at him. "Yeah, your number?"

I grin. "Hm, okay. 334552-" "0921?" He cut me off. "It never changed huh?"

I giggle. "Bye!" He left. Oh, I missed that boy, on the inside.

The whole ride home, I thought of him. It has been years.
