Nawal
I hope all of you are aware of the Sahabi of Rasoolallah sallallahu alaihi wasallam Mus'ab bin Umair radhiallahu anhu. The shining moon of the youth of Quraish. He was handsome and he was young. The historians say - 'He was the most scent loving person in the whole of Makkah!'. He was born and brought up with a golden spoon in his mouth. The love he received from his parents couldn't be compared to any other's case in Makkah, because it surpassed everyone'slove.
This able youth of Makkah listened to the conversation with interest and concentration. He had become the centre of attraction of Makkan parties inspite of his young age. Everyone wanted to invite Mus'ab Ra to their parties because Beauty and brains merged in this handsome man. and these qualities of his could cross both boundaries and hearts.
Was it possible that this handsome, intelligent man who was an asset to the Makkan parties and city, would stay devoid of Imaan? Wallahi No! He became one of legends of Islam. And By Allah how beautiful this legend was, this legend who was known as 'Mus'ab Al Khair' in the Muslim brotherhood. He is one among those whose upbringing was done by our beloved Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam himself.
In those days, Makkah was alight with the news of the Prophethood of Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam. The residents of Makkah had no other topic to talk on except this one. Mus'ab radhiallahu anhu heard it too and when he heard that Rasoolallah sallallahu alaihi wasallam used to meet and teach his companions in Darul Arqam away from the atrocities of the Quraish, he went there without delay. After all his wishes and curiosity had already travelled there before he did.
When he went there Qur'an started flowing from the heart of the Nabi sallAllahu Alaihi wasallam to the lips of the Prophet and through there it reached the ears of the Sahaba radhiallahu anhuma and was absorbed within the depths of their hearts. Mus'ab bin Umair also heard them and accepted Islam. He pledged on Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam's hand. His wisdom became twice his age and the strength of his heart became more prominent.
Mus'ab bin Umair's mother was of unique characteristics. She was a strong woman. The whole city wasn't that scary to Mus'ab bin Umair as much as his mother was. So he decided to hide his Islam and kept going to our Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam to learn. But Makkah in those days had turned into a spy. Nothing could be kept hidden and so even Mus'ab bin Umair's islam couldn't be hidden for a longer time. Someone saw him and informed his mother.
He stood in front of the leaders of Quraish and his mother along with the whole family and recited Qur'an. And when she raised her hands to slap him, his face had such a noor that her hand couldn't touch him. She started respecting this change in her son, but she was a woman set in her ways and couldn't bear that her son had left her beloved gods, so she did what she could... She imprisoned him in the house.
Mus'ab bin Umair heard that Muslims were given the permission of Hijrah to Habsha, so he waited for the time when the servants and his mother were a little less attentive towards him and then ran away. He stayed with his muslim brothers for some time in Habsha then returned to Makkah, migrating back to Habsha again when he saw the conditions of Makkah worsening.
The last time he met his mother was when he returned to Makkah for the first time from Habsha. His mother wanted to capture and imprison him again, but Mus'ab bin Umair promised her that this time if she tried to imprison him, he will kill everyone who helps her in this and as his mother knew how he kept his promises, without fail, she didn't take any action.
When the people from Madinah came and pledged on Rasoolallah sallallahu alaihi wasallam's hand, he sent Mus'ab radhiallahu anhu along with them to Madinah, to teach them about Islam as well as give Da'wah to other people. Mus'ab radhiallahu anhu knew that he was being given a very important work, which went ahead to become the centre of Hijrah due to his hard work.
