Rubdha and Umar
My dear readers, who amongst us don't want to be in love with Allah Rabbilaalameen? We all want to be in love with Allah and also want be loved by Allah, don't we? We all want that heart warming kind of love, which makes us mention and remember Him again and again. Why? Because that's just how our Lord is. His attributes are so magnificent that we will fall in love with him if we just think about them sincerely. If we seriously think about his mercy which he have sent down upon us, think about how he have kept ninety nine parts of the same mercy with him to judge us on the day of judgement and think of just how amazing this actually is, then we will realise that He is actually the one who deserves all the praises and our love.
Ibn Al Qayyim says there are ten ways a mu'min can fall in love with Allah if followed sincerely. They are-
1) Recitation of the Qur'an. Recite the Qur'an and understand it's meaning. Take time to understand just what the creator wants to say to you. Imagine He is the creator of the whole world and He is the one who is the most high and almighty and He wants to talk with us sinners, who actually don't deserve it but He still is giving us His attention and is speaking with us through this book. So shouldn't we atleast make a little time and effort to understand what he is saying? It must be important enough. Also when we do this sincerely and understand just who our Rabb is and know him, we will fall in love with him.
2) By doing good deeds. When we do our obligatory good deeds we actually are fulfilling our duties but when we do more then that, put a little extra effort in it then we start getting more closer to Our Rabb. When we perform voluntary good deeds is when Rabbilaalameen starts to love us. So try to do a little more extra Aamal in the way of Allah.
3)Dhikr, remembrance of Allah. When you start mentioning someone again and again you actually start liking them little by little... Same thing happens in this case too. When we start doing Dhikr of Allah, when we start mentioning him and remembering him is when we start loving him. So keep your tongues moist with the Dhikr of Allah. Light up your heart by making it the centre of His Swt's love. Start with little things like when you say you will do something say In sha Allah. When you are blessed with anything big or small say Alhamdulilllahi rabbilaalameen. Say Subhan Allah in shock or Allah u Akbar or just say Astaghfirullah. And then take it to higher level.
4) Leaving something or accepting something purely for the sake of Rabbe Zuljalalah. When we let what we love go, for what Allah Loves, we are letting him guide us and trusting him for the life to come and that is a way to fall in love with Allah. Letting something go purely because it is coming in between the connection of your Rabb and you, and then in return you recieve his acceptance of you and your love for him. And accepting something for the sake of Allah is also a way to begin loving him.
5) To know the names and attributes of Allah. My dear readers, when you learn the character of anyone, you start loving their character if it's good. In this case we are studying Allah zuljalalah's names and his attributes. We are learning who is Al Khaliq and Ar Rahman. We are studying how he is Ar Razzaq and Al Wadood. When we know the meaning of His names and ponder upon them is when we realise how much He loves and cares for us and just who He is, paving the way for us to love Him.
6)To realise how much loving and caring he is towards us. How much he blesses us and how much he gives us without us even fulfilling his rights on us. We need to realise how much he is giving us openly and hidden from our eyes. How much he handles for us. Imam shafa'i says- "If you knew how Allah deals with your affairs, then your heart would melt in your chest with the love for him." So think about it and realise how much he deals with your problems for you.
7) Realising who we are in front of Allah. Who is Allah? The creator of Heavens and the Hell, the creater of the sky and the Tahtu ssara and everything in between. The one who gives us Rizq. The one who is the Lord of everything in existence. The one whose praises won't end even if we keep praising him for whole our life. He is the most high, the almighty, the great... and who are we in front of him? Nothing... not even a speck of dust. We, our lives, our breaths, our heartbeats... everything in fact is a gift, a grace from Allah himself. Then on what basis do we display our pride, our false egos. What right do we have? None! This right belongs only to Allah. We are nothing. When we realise this we humble ourselves before the Mighty Rabb. And this will fill your heart with his love.
