There was no one in front of the house and only light in the hall at the end of the property. I had Gina and Terry by my side and felt terrible about it. I feared that any second a vampire or werewolf might jump out and kill them. She wanted to talk to me, so they wouldn’t kill me just yet.
I wondered where her twin brother, the other original vampire, was in all of this. She had mentioned him to Ryan when they had argued; the last time I had seen Ryan for real. He had to be as strong as her if they were twins but he hadn’t come knocking at my door.
We let us self in the front door, which was unlocked. We walked slowly through the big house until we reached the double door that led to the hall, which were lighted. I turned the handles quickly and as they swung open I moved back. It hadn’t mattered. They jumped us right away.
Some were vampires other were werewolves. I didn’t care; I burned everyone who tried to lay a hand on me. Terry and Gina were fighting too and their silver knives and wooden stakes made a lot of damage.
“Enough of a show,” The Lady said and the two vampires behind her moved and attacked Gina and Terry. They were out dead instantly. Not killed I noticed but knocked out real good.
The Lady was viewing me and I noticed she was wearing a white dress for a change but again with really high heels. She had some complex with her height.
“I’m disappointed you didn’t listen. So which of them do you want me to kill first? Your mother-figure aunt or your long-lost uncle?” She stepped down from the throne she had been sitting on.
“You don’t need to touch any of them. I’m here right, aren’t I? They just wouldn’t let me go alone,” I explained.
“Though you didn’t bring young Will. What a shame, I was looking forward to see what he was capable of. He loves you enough to sacrifice himself for you, but that’s just runs in the family I guess.”
“Sorry to disappoint,” I said politely. I scanned the room and counted six vampires, including The Lady, and twelve werewolves. “Why do you need so much backup? Scared you can’t handle me by yourself?”
“No, absolutely not. They were just here to take care of your backup and since they are out cold I’ll retract them so you and I can talk alone,” she said and ordered everyone out.
“Take the werewolves with you,” she continued.
“No! They are staying. You said it yourself they are out cold. If they move you can call on our guards but if I can’t see them I won’t be sure if you hurt them. I thought this was a civil arrangement. On that note I would like to see that Rebecca is okay too,” I demanded.
“Your demands are reasonable. Tie up the werewolves with silver and get him to bring in the kid.”
They pulled Terry and Gina together and tied them with silver thread. They wouldn’t be able to get out of those. Then her vampires and werewolves left and left the double doors open.
I blinked and the next instant Ryan was standing in the door, holding a sleeping Rebecca in his arms. His hair had been cut like when I had first meet him and his beard was shaved off. He looked like that charmer I fell for in front of the old movie theatre. Only now his eyes were dark and he wasn’t smiling.
She had let him out. He was standing right there and he didn’t run. What the hell was wrong with him? Then I saw it. Thin threads, invisible to the human eyes, were linking him with The Lady. It had been those threads that had pulled him away that time. Away from me and towards her.
“As you can see she’s fine. Just under compulsion, so if I were you I wouldn’t run off with her before I tell her she can leave, she might do something self-destructive.”
