Clay's P.O.V.~

With the stranger in my bed, I decided to sleep on a chair in the downtime room.  From what my team always says, these chairs are really comfortable.  I can easily say that they've lied to me for so long.

My neck hurts, my back's sore.  How can anyone sit in these things?

After a couple of minutes of trying to get comfortable again, I just roll out of the chair.  There's no point in wasting the night trying to sleep.

A noise broke through the silence.  My eyes shot to the door that led to the kitchen.  Something was in there.  I knew there was.

I grabbed my claymore, walking to the door. Metal bumped against metal like someone was trying to find something. With a deep breath, I charge into the room, scaring the stranger from before greatly.

He tried to run, but I caught him just in time, resting the blade against his neck. He inhaled sharply, fear evident in his eyes.

I didn't let the blade drop. "What are you doing?"

"I'm being threatened, that's what I'm doing," the stranger chucked, then gestured to the refrigerator. "But I was looking for something to eat. I haven't eaten a thing all day."

That's when I pulled my sword back. My anger slipped away as my eyes lowered to his arm. The blood.

"I'll get you something to eat if you do two things for me." I pointed at his arm. "You have to let me fix your arm and tell me who you are."

The man nodded, pulling his sleeve up. "My name's Aaron Fox."

With a nod of gratitude, I grabbed a towel, wetting it so I could clean his arm quickly.  It took a bit of time, but not as long as I would've imagined.  Nothing looked as bad as I figured, so I let my concern go.

"You might've just scraped your arm on something sharp.  It should heal on its own."

Aaron nodded, giving me a look of confusion.  I met his eyes, then noticing he was looking passed me.  When I turned, I saw what he was looking at: a picture of the knights and me.  We took that a week before we graduated during our last day of the semester.

I lifted it up, handing it over to him.  "Did you attend the Graduation Battlebration yesterday?"

"The first part, yeah," he still looked confused.  Thankfully, I didn't have to guess what it was.  "Is she your archer?"

As I looked to where he pointed, I smile.  "Yeah, that's Amber.  She was the best archer Merlok could find."

Aaron snorted, pushing the picture back in my hands.  "From what I saw, not really.  She nearly missed the targets eighty percent of her shots.  There's no way she's the best archer Merlok could find in all of Knighton."

"If you think that, why didn't you try and sign up for training when you were younger?" I asked coldly, placing the picture back where it was.

That seemed to shut Aaron up. His green eyes shined, but not in a good way. He turned away from me, walking to the fridge. No words were spoken. It was like he felt nothing else should be said.

With a sigh, I watched him pull out different containers. "Do you think you could do better than her?"

"Give me a Blaser-Bow, and I'll prove to you that I'm the better archer."

I hummed in thought, then nodded. "Alright."

Aaron froze, looking at me with shock. "Alright? Alright what?"

"I'll get you a Blaser-Bow, and you can show me what you can do. If I think you're good enough for the team, I'll pull some strings and get you armor and a shield."

Aaron smiled at me, nodding. "Great. I want a written agreement then. I'll expect to see it the same day you get a bow." He took a container, walking towards the door. Before he left, he gave me one last smile. "Trust me, Clay Moorington, you won't regret this."

"Then you better not disappoint, Aaron Fox."

It could've been my eyes playing tricks on me, but I swore I saw his cheeks flush when I said his name. Shaking it off, I walk towards the training room to get some extra practice in before calling the Knights Academy to send a Blaser-Bow.

Later today seemed to be becoming very interesting. I couldn't wait to see what Aaron could do.
