Aaron's P.O.V.~

I woke up early the day after Ashton said something about going to see Clay. She's so nice, and cool. She can shapeshift! What isn't awesome about that? I mean, I can do that now, but it's awesome to see her change. Of course, she and I being siblings is really awesome, too.

"So, when do we head to Clay?" I asked for the eightieth time that hour.

Ashton rolled her eyes, laughing lightly. "You make it seem like you two just started dating."

"I can't help it!" I say. "I miss him!"

She shook her head, then looked at the time. "Well, we can use the Realm Crystal anytime, but I'd rather we head out at noon, then fly until sundown."

"I have to fly?" I ask, sighing.

"You need practice, Aaron. Besides, I want to give you time to prepare for seeing him. He might-"

"He wouldn't replace me," I say, anger in my eyes. "We love each other too much."

Ashton grabbed my hands. "I wasn't going to say he did. I mean, I've heard some things about soulmates losing their partners. They sometimes see their apparitions. Clay might think you're in his head since you're no longer seen as alive in that world."

I looked down, sighing. "Oh," was all I could say.

She made me look up. "Fine, we'll go now, but we aren't getting there today."

Smiling, I pull her into a hug, my heart beating excitedly.

Time Skip~

We had jumped through the portal, Ashton changing into her dragon and looking at me. With some effort, I change into my dragon form, my green eyes being able to adjust to the sun.

The two of us flew into the sky, and a blast of wind hit my side. I growl in distress, feeling Ashton's talons keep me balanced.

She growled as Ciro came into view on a black and green dragon. She snorted, bringing me to the ground. We changed back, and I saw him come down, too.

"Ciro! I told you to meet us at the checkpoint!" Ashton yelled at the younger boy.

He laughed. "I didn't want to wait. I wanted to see the new shifter in action."

"You would've tomorrow."

I sigh, waiting for them to stop their bickering.  Soon, they did, and we flew off again.  The sun lowered in the sky, and I began to lose energy.

Ashton began diving down, so I followed behind her, collapsing on the ground, changing back into a human.

She sat next to me, changing back.  "Good flying, Aaron.  You should rest up for tomorrow."

I nod, laying back as she walked of, picking up some sticks along the way.  Ciro sat beside me, chuckling lightly.

"You know," he started, looking down at me, "she's like a mother to me.  Though, I don't know my real mom."

"She left you and your father?"

He shook his head.  "She passed away when I was born, and my father blames me for it.  He makes me do these bad things, but after I went into the portal to make sure you were okay, I met her.  Ashton is this strong, independent person who can make anyone feel safe."
