~Present Day~

I looked to Red with empathy, "Thank you."

I turned to walk home.

"Where are you going?" she asked.

"Not sure yet," I replied.

"Well, are you okay?" she asked.

"Yeah, don't worry about me.  I stopped getting my hopes up about guys a long time ago," I faked a smile.

~Time Skip~

*Kenny's P.O.V.*

We had just gotten out of football practice and I decide to shoot (Y/N) a text.

M: Wanna hang out?

(Y/N): Sure where?

I thought about my place, but I didn't really want to bring her around my family.  I'm pretty sure she already knows I white trash, but she doesn't need to know how bad it is.

M: You're place?

(Y/N): Do you know where I live?

M: Kinda by Stan's?

(Y/N): Yup, see you soon

*Your P.O.V.*

It wasn't long before Kenny showed up.

You wanna play games?  Let's play. There is no way I'm letting an ass like you hurt me again.

~Flashback~

"(Y/N), do you even realize where Matthew was at last weekend?" my best friend asked.

"He said he was with family," I shrugged.

"He lied," she bluntly replied.

I choked back tears, "I know."

She looked at me with sad eyes, "Why are you putting up with this?"

" I guess I love him.  Look you wouldn't understand.  He's just the one for me," I said trying to convince myself more than I was her.

"Well, I refuse to just sit her and watch you destroy yourself over some fuck boy, who lies and cheats on you.  Call me when you pull your head out of your ass," she grumbled, grabbing her stuff and leaving me alone.

~Present Day~

There was a knock on my door.  Knowing it was Kenny, I quickly opened it.  We had a great time just hanging out and watching movies.  I played right into his hand, but in no way did I fall for him.  I wasn't going to get hurt this time.

Kenny smiled to me, and my heart melted just looking at his tan face.

"I know we haven't known each other for a really long time, but I want you to know that you make me extremely happy.  Like when I'm with you, I forget that I'm poor as fuck and that I have to work two jobs to help support my family.  The best part is that you remember I die.  I've never been able to fall for someone because they'd never understand. You're special (Y/N)," he smiled.

I felt my heart sink.

Could I help falling for him?

"I've fallen for someone before.  I thought it was love, but I was wrong.  I was only hurt from that experience, and I taught me to not trust anyone with my heart because it's a fragile thing," I gulped.  "He lied and cheated, and filled me with all this bull shit that he loved me.  Kenny, I'm scared to get hurt again."

Kenny wrapped his arms around me, "I won't hurt you like he did."

"But your past with other girls-"

"The past is in the past for a reason," he reminded me.  "That was me before I met you.  Now I'm  me with you.  It's crazy how a person can completely change you.  (Y/N), I love you."

I stared at him wide eyed and speechless.
