Kay let out a groan and rolled over on her mattress, barely opening her eyes to read the clock on the wall- 8:41. She felt like she could sleep until noon, and tried to fall back asleep until-

"Morning, sistah! Rise and shine, I know you're awake!" Jess (who was already dressed and ready for school) skipped into the living room and stood above Kay's mattress, where her sister curled up into a ball under the blankets. "Go away, Jess," Kayce mumbled.

"Come on, sleepyhead! Early bird gets the worm!" Jess scurried over to the kitchen area and pulled a purple lunch bag out of the fridge, then stuffed it into her colorfully patterned backpack. "I have to go to class, and I'm staying on campus for lunch so you'd better behave. I don't know what Holly's doing, but I'm pretty sure her classes today don't start until 10. Whatever." She turned to Kay and wagged her finger. "Behave!"

Kay laughed, brushing a tangled mess of pink hair out of her face. "Yeah, I will," she promised. She looked over at Bianca's mattress, where Bianca was still sleeping.

Jess left, swinging her backpack over her shoulder, leaving Kay alone. She picked up her phone and got up to sit on the couch, suddenly remembering that she didn't post her draft last night, on her blog. Kay quickly read over it to make sure that it was blog-ready, then tapped post. Now what can I do?

Kayce looked around the room. She couldn't turn on the tv- it would wake everyone up. She couldn't wake everyone up- that would be rude. What was in the fridge? Kay was starving.

Nothing for breakfast. She checked the cabinets and found a few boxes of Froot Loops- her least favorite type of cereal. Maybe she and Bianca could just go out to eat. They could look around the shops!

Kay spun around on one of the little stools at the island table. She was so incredibly bored, and so incredibly awake all of a sudden.

She realised that the Monopoly game was still on the coffee table, and decided to go clean it up. It was an extremely short game- only a few hours- and Holly won. Kay organised the pastel money slips and collected all the tokens, placing everything into the box and then folding the board on top of them.

"Morning," Bianca mumbled as she stretched her arms and sat up on the air mattress next to Kay's. "How'd you sleep?"

"Fine," Kay responded. "Did I wake you up?" she asked worriedly.

"No, no... I don't think so." Bianca rubbed her eyes and yawned. "What time is it? 9?"

Kayce read the clock. "8:54."

"Close enough." Bianca wiggled her toes and stood up. "What's for breakfast?" Kay remained sitting on the floor and watched Bianca check the fridge, then the cupboards. "Ooh, yummy!" she said upon discovering the Froot Loops. "I love these!"
"I hate them," Kay replied. "Is there anything else?"

Bianca was clearly astonished. "You don't like Froot Loops? Okay, I knew you were weird, but..." she poured the cereal into a porcelain bowl and put it back in the cupboard. As Bianca pulled a carton of milk out of the refrigerator, Kay got up and sat at the table. "I've never like them," she explained. "Too sugary." Bianca poured the milk into the bowl and before she put it back in the fridge, she gave Kay a look that said You sure? Kayce nodded.

"Well," Bianca said, sitting down next to Kayce, "they're not for everyone I guess." She took a bite of cereal and gulped down a glass of milk. "Ah," she sighed, "that's yummy. What cereals do you like, then?"

"Cheerios."

"Cheerios!" Bianca burst out laughing. "Cheerios! Of all the cereals out there you choose the most boring, bland, colorless and tasteless of them all." She shook her head, mumbling "Cheerios..." to herself.
