I had decided to take a taxi to my friend's house in New York as I was tired from having a late dance class yesterday. The driver said that we would be there in 10 minutes so I'd started to text Riley when ...

CRASH!

I opened my eyes to see someone holding a hand out to me. I frantically grasped his hand so I could get out of the stuffy car. He handed me a tissue and ice pack pointing to his head, then a drip of red went down my face and I knew what had happened. A car crash! I spotted a paramedic rushing towards me, words tumbling out of his mouth that I couldn't comprehend when I started feeling light-headed. The last thing I remember seeing was the sky.

I woke up again to a white ceiling when I heard a ping to my right, I saw a phone with the screen lit brightly like the sun. A person (I think it's a girl) called Riley had asked where I was. I didn't know what to do so I asked her who she was so I knew I wasn't talking to a stranger. She quickly messaged me back saying she was my best friend. I didn't believe her so I asked how I would know it's true. She said 'I will send you a photo of me and you can compare it to that photo of us and the boys.'

 'That's me.'

Maya grabbed her bag to find her photo missing. She looked around the room desperately to find it on the bedside table and compared the two photos.

 "Wow she hasn't changed much" I exclaimed.    

The next day

I woke up and took some of the medicine the doctors prescribed me. I was really excited today because Riley was bringing some friends with her to see me. She wouldn't tell me who she was bringing but I was just happy that I would see my best friend. Oh I forgot to say that I have remembered everything except the two boys in the photo. I had a gut feeling that she was bringing them but then hopefully I will remember them and would have fully regained my memory.

The doctor came in to check everything was alright, congratulate me on making a big amount of progress in such a short amount of time and to tell me if I stayed fine the entire day I could go home tomorrow. I asked the doctor if I could have some pancakes for breakfast and she went to go get some for me. I went to the bathroom to freshen up and get changed when I heard whispering coming from the room. I walked in to the room (that was now dark) and I jumped when I heard 'surprise' being shouted.

I turned on the lights and ran over to hug Riley when I heard one of the boys say "of course she'd hug her first". I span round and said "Geez who do you think you are, my best friend? No so shut it!". He then said "I'm sorry it's just this whole situation is just stressful because I thought you were gonna die and then I never would have had the chance to say that...I lo..l." Then he stopped, he didn't say anything else. Riley and the other boy left leaving me alone with this person I don't even know. I was about to ask what his name was when he kissed me.

Then I gasped as I remembered the last part of my memory, specifically the love triangle between me, Lucas and Riley. Ah my Huckleberry. "You remembered me! She remembered me!!" yelled Lucas. Oops I must have said that out loud. "Lucas, what were you trying to say to me earlier?" I questioned. "I love you Maya; I always have done and always will do. And when you stepped back for Riley it made me love you even more." I didn't think at all before I kissed him back. "I love you too Huckleberry. I only stepped back because I didn't want her to feel upset as I knew she loved you too. That's why I always called you names and said hahurr, all because I loved you."

"Hate to crash the party but I told the doctor that you remembered Lucas so she said that she would run a few tests quickly and then we can leave!" shouted Riley.

Ten minutes later.

"Here are some clothes that I brought so you can change"said Riley helpfully. *Everyone goes outside for a minute so Maya can change* "I'm ready to leave. McDonald's?" questioned Maya. "Yep" answered Riley.
