Me and Brody lied side by side, holding hands.
We've been childhood friends. Maybe a little bit more now.
" Brody I'm bored." I commented.
" Yeah. Me too."
" What do you want to do? I have to be home for supper." I asked.
" Well.. we could go to...." Brody smiled rolling over.
" No. I can't do that. Not today. I'm going home."
" Why are you leaving so fast? Come on Joslyn!" He whines.
He pulls me close, but I wriggle out and climb down the ladder, running into the woods.
Somehow I ended up back at pond.
Not again.
I frantically look around, searching for a shadow.
Nothing I guess.
I sit down, rolling up my jeans slowly, and brush my hands against the water. I look down into the water, my reflection staring back at me. Suddenly the water turns gray. Water splashing everywhere, clouds churning above me. Then the water goes clear, everything back to normal. And gazing back at me through the water, is her. Her eyes a beautiful golden hazel color, her hair brown and wavy, and her smile is as bright as the sun.
It's been awhile since I've seen her. I missed her dearly. But mom says I can't take my chances. Whatever.
" Evelyn?" I slowly mutter.
" Hey Joslyn. It's been awhile. Find anything?" She asks, her voice radiating against the ripples of the water.
" No. I'm sorry. Mom has been keeping me away."
" I guessed." She said sadly.
" Evelyn, I'm trying to get you out. My powers aren't getting stronger."
" Probably mom."
" Yeah."
" You should go now." She warns.
" Why? I just got here. There are SOO many things I need to tell you!" I squeal in excitement.
" Save it for later. It's getting close to night, go now." Evelyn urges.
" Evelyn?" I ask.
" GO JOSLYN!" She screams.
I turn around, confused.
It's not even close to night though? Not even supper yet!
Suddenly I hear a whisper, and a dark shadow looming over me.
Oh god.
I broke into a sprint, tears pouring down my face and mixing with my sweat. Branches were poking my face, as I ran for my life. Looking back, a dark shadow was following close behind. Suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my back, as I fell down, crumpling on a log.
This is it. Stupid me! I should've known better! This is where it ends. I'm sorry Evelyn. I love you.
I turned around so my back was facing the ground, and I finally got a close look at the shadow moving above me. Eye sockets with no eyes, it's teeth dripping blood, black tentacles oozing out of its mouth, moving towards my eyes. Every part of my body froze. The shadow moved closer, becoming bigger, while I became more frightened. I stumbled backwards, trying to push my self back up, but my body lost its strength, crawling against the dirty ground, my back giving in as I cried. I felt a freezing shock on my skin, as I pulled myself up slowly. I stared in fear as the shadow grinned back, blood suddenly dripping everywhere.
" AGHH!" I cried, as I ran once again, stumbling.
For what seems like hours I was running. Running from death. Up ahead was a brick house, with two cherry trees in front.
Home!!
I burst through the door, locking it shut.
" Joslyn what's wrong?" Dad asked, a worried look in his face.
" Them.... here.... help....Evelyn.....wh-"
I was cut off from my sentence when everything went black. My father came out of his office, holding a wand and two flashlights.
" Stay here." He warned, throwing a flashlight at me.
Oh no. Why was I so careless?
I suddenly felt warm arms embracing me from behind.
" Mom?"
" Shh."
She pulled me close, as I drifted asleep into her arms.Hope that wasn't to intense. Tell my if you like the story so far! Thanks for reading my probably cheesy book!
