Bloody Suprises

Chapter 4

          It’s been three days since the night in the cave, and Jacob has been ignoring me again. I would smile at him every once and a while and he would just walk right past me. He won’t sleep with me either; he just sleeps on the couch or floor. It scared me that he was ignoring me. There were just so many questions I needed answered. I felt like he was the only one who could answer them.

          That morning (which was basically a night because it’s always dark during the day and everyone slept in the day) I walked into the living room. Jacob was quietly asleep on the floor. I tip toed over and sat beside his sleeping body. His blonde hair was in his face and he clinched tightly onto something. I gently opened the palm of his hand. In the center of his palm lay a heart-shaped gold necklace. When my finger stroked his hand trying to pick up the necklace he woke.

“What… what are you doing?” he asked still trying to wake up. I looked at the wood floor then into his beautiful blue eyes which shined so brightly in the dark.

“Nothing, getting a drink…” I didn’t want him to know that I cared he was ignoring me.

          He picked up his body and leaned his back against the couch. He opened and closed the locket in almost a second then shoved it into his pocket. He stood, and then sat on the leather couch. I stood there staring at him for a while then sat beside him. We just sat in silence until he said, “What do you want?”

          I sat there for a while wondering what to say.

“Are you okay?” He said after a while.

“Yes,” I quietly replied.

“Damn it Willow, what do you want?!” He almost yelled.

          I stood up and yelled, “What do I want? How about what do you want?!”

          He sighed and gently pulled me back onto the couch. He slightly whispered, “I just want you to be safe…”

          I calmed down, “Then why are you ignoring me?”

“That’s why I’m ignoring you, because you need safety and me wanting you is not going to make you safe.”

          He pulled me closer and gently pressed his lips on mine.

“Being with you is what’s going to make me safe” I managed to say under my breath. I closed my eyes, but he pulled back gently biting my lower lip.

“I have a surprise for you, but you’ll have to wait until tonight. Until then get some sleep princess.” He smiled, placed a kiss gently on my forehead and pushed us both down on the couch. He wrapped his arms around me and we fell asleep.

          I heard the door open and shut through the sound of the water. I stepped out of the shower letting my fleet head the cold tiled floor. Lying on the counter was a little black dress and a note.

                             Put this on and meet me down stairs

            I smiled and slipped on the dress. It was just plain black. No puffiness or itchy lace. I loved it. I let my black hair fall in curls at my back. I smiled and ran to Meg’s room.

 “You look beautiful,” She mumbled with a mouth full of potato chips.

 “Thanks, so can I borrow some shoes?” I said in a rush.

          She smiled and walked to her closet. She came out with a pair of black flats. I took them from her and slid them on my feet. “A perfect fit,” I said and ran out the door.

          I walked down the stairs nearly falling down the last one. Jacob was sitting on the couch in a black tux and red tie. His blue eyes were sparkling under his blonde hair. He smiled and we walked out the front door.

          I was right; they lived in the middle of the woods. We got into a tanned color car and drove for what seemed like hours. We finally arrived at a restaurant called Amore. We walked inside and the smell of Italian welcomed me. Jacob told the waiter a table for two and we had a seat.  The walls had fancy grape designs and carts of wine everywhere. The tables and seats where a faded brown and everyone wore fancy outfits.

          The waiter took my order because Jacob said he wasn’t hungry. I ate a mountain of spaghetti. I just now noticed how hungry I was and that I haven’t eaten since I’ve been here. Jacob sat and watched me eat the whole time with a smile on his face, Every time I asked him ‘what?’ he would just whisperer ‘nothing’ when I finished Jacob paid the bill and we left.

          After about ten minutes of driving I told him to pull over. He smiled and pulled the car over. I got out went to the side of the road and threw up.  Jacob was holding my hair back for a while then told me to hold on. He went behind the car and disappeared. I was still throwing up beside the car when he came back with a glass in his hand.

“Drink this.” He said holding the cup out to me.

“Why? I’ll just throw it up, I must be sick.” I replied holding my stomach.

“We’ll see, just drink it please.”

          I took the cup from his hands and put my mouth to the straw. The taste of the liquid was bitter but sweet. It put an end to my hunger I faced. I drank it all and handed the glass back to Jacob.

“How you feel?” He asked.

“Good,”

“Willow, Meg and I have been hiding something from you.” He said firmly.

“You two are married aren’t you? I knew it.” He looked at me weird than laughed.

“Willow, if I was married to Meg I’d kill myself.” He stated as I rolled my eyes.

“Then what is it?” My voice was shaky and he could tell.

          He took my hand in his. He took his other hand and bit into his wrist. Blood gushed out and he put his wrist to me. I stood still and quiet.

“Drink it.” He demanded. His voice was soft and gentle but I was too scared to move. He was standing with me in the middle of the road telling me to drink his blood. “Go ahead, trust me.”

          I looked at his wrist and wrapped my finger around the wound. I lift my bloody fingers to my mouth. The bitter but sweet taste reappeared in my mouth. I looked at Jacob then down to his wrist. I grabbed it slowly and raised it to my mouth. His blood was a mixture of flavors and it addicted me in everyway. I sucked from the wound gently and while Jacob held his other hand firmly in my hand. When I finished I touch my mouth, looked back at him, and passed out.
