Chapter 2

Rosalie's P.O.V.

I was helping Renee fold up some of the chairs when I looked one towards Caila over there with those two mutts. I saw her gripping the table, I started to walk over there just as she started falling. She grabbed some plates as she went down & her body weight flipped the table. "CAILA!" I yelled. I ran over as fast as a human & lifted the table off her. "CARLISLE!" He & Esme ran out of the house & over towards us. "What happened?!" Esme asked sounding panicked. "She said she wasn't feeling the best earlier!" Jasper said as Alice hugged him. Emmett ran over to me grabbing me & holding me. We could all hear her heartbeat fading.

"We need an ambulance!" Renee said. "Her pulse is slowing down quickly, we need to drive her!" Carlisle said as he checked her pulse. "Get her in the cruiser! We'll get her there quick!" Charlie said. Carlisle picked her up & followed Charlie to his car, the rest of us piled into our vehicles. We were doing well over the speed limit the whole way there thanks to Charlie's, as we pulled in we all saw Carlisle jump out of Charlie's car with Caila in his arms. We all ran in after him as he started saying her heart stopped. Another doctor ran in taking over, as Carlisle panicked.

I heard sobbing & looked at Esme who was in Renee's arms. I could feel my own tears piling up but never falling. Carlisle held her & we all were lead into an empty waiting room. After 30 minutes her doctor came in. "She's alive, we got her back." He said & there was breaths of relief from everyone. "We are running some tests, blood tests & the rash on her face. Does anyone else know if anything else was bothering her?" He asked & jasper coughed. "She said the joints in her knees were bothering her & that it hurt to breathe." The doctor wrote it down. "We're going to finish checking everything before allowing anyone to see her." We all nodded & sat down. "She's always been a tough girl, this won't faze her." Tanya said. We all nodded. "Remember when she was riding her bike down the driveway, & she fell off & cracked her head!" Esme said. "The only reason we knew she did it was because we noticed all the blood in her hair!" We all laughed. After two hours the doctor came in saying we could finally see her.

Caila's P.O.V.

I felt someone ice cold holding my hand, I know it was my mom or dad. Slowly my eyes adjusted to the light, & I could see my mom rubbing my hand. "Hi baby." I tried sitting up & she put some pillows behind me to support me. "What happened?" I asked her while rubbing my eyes. "You passed out while cleaning up, baby your heart gave out." She said running her hand through my hair. "Are you okay with everyone else coming in here?" I nodded & she walked over opening the door. My dad was the first one through, he came over kissing my head. Rose & Emmett came in after him, "How you feeling babe?" Rose asked. "I'm breathing fine but my knees are still sore." She nodded sitting in the chair against the wall. Alice ran over, practically tackling me. "Please don't do that again. You terrified me." I hugged her back. "I'm sorry." She kissed my cheek & stood up.

Jasper came & sat on the bed next to me putting his arm around my shoulders. Renee & Phil filed in with Charlie behind them. The Clearwater's followed. We heard someone coming down the hall & the doctor came in. We all looked at him, he smiled at us before leaning on the dresser in front of the bed. "You look better than you did when you came in." He told me. "I'd hope so, I'm alive this time." I said not thinking. A loud booming laugh came from Emmett. When he realized no one else was laughing he stopped & coughed. "Sorry, force of habit." I said.

"So I have all your test results back. It seems you have Lupus, your heart is fine now but I want you to check it daily." He said & it's like the earth stopped. "Your body is attacking your organs. The breathing trouble, sore joints, & the butterfly rash are all symptoms. Your knees may stay sore, but the breathing trouble & rash seem to be flare ups." I nodded taking all this in. Everyone was staring at me. "Aleve can help your joints, I can prescribe a cream for the rash, & breathing treatments for the breathing troubles, but other than that there's not much I can do." He said setting his stuff down. "Caila? Are you okay?" Alice asked.

I took a deep breath & nodded. "I'm fine, it's nothing that can be cured. So we adjust & move on." I said. "This isn't something to take lightly Caila. This will affect your life drastically." My dad said. "You raised me to fear nothing, so that's what I'm going to do." I said throwing the covers off me. He smiled at me. "& where are you going?" Alice asked coming to stand in front of me. "The bathroom." I said standing up. It was slow going but I made it shutting & locking the door.

When I was done everyone stared at me. "We will be keeping you here tonight to watch your heart, just to be safe." I nodded walking to the bed. "Well we better get going, our flight leaves tomorrow morning." Renee said. She smiled at me. "Feel better & take care of yourself." She said walking out. Charlie, Sue, Seth, & Leah followed saying their goodbyes.

I laid back in the bed, Alice pulling my hair up in a bun. I rubbed my face, sighing. "Tired?" Rose asked. I nodded. "Can someone go & get some clothes for me? This gown will choke me all night." I said. "Me & Alice will." Rose said before her & Alice kissed my cheeks & walking out. "We need to go finish cleaning, but we'll be back." My mom said. "Emmett, Jasper. Can you two stay here?" Dad asked them. "We'll make sure she tries nothing trickie." Emmett said. "Why would I run when my legs gave out?" I asked & he shrugged.

"Dad please don't tell Edward." I said. He sighed but nodded. "But if it happens again I'm calling him." I sighed. "Agreed." I told him, he smiled & kissed my forehead. "We'll be back." He said as he & mom left. I looked up to see Emmett & Jasper grinning at me. "What?" They laid on their stomachs across my bed setting their heads in their hands. "Any cute guys we should know about?" I smiled at their antics, "There was a ton of hot guys on campus, but I didn't date anyone." They nodded. "Second question, did you go to any insane parties?" Emmett asked. "Sure did." I replied. "Get drunk?" Jasper asked. "Wasted." He gave me a disapproving look. "Sleep with anyone?" Emmett asked. "Nice try, but no." They smiled. "Good."

I smiled at them. "It's nice having you back home, we really missed you." They smiled at me. "I missed you guys too." I said. I leaned my bed back, getting sleepy. "You tired?" Emmett asked. I nodded & yawned. "Scoot over." He said. I did & he squeezed in next to me. "Go to sleep okay." I laid my head on his shoulder. "I'll be back." Jasper said then walked out the door. "He fed a few days ago, but I guess being around so many people in one day then being in the hospital took a toll on him. "Do you think it's gotten any easier for him?" I asked & Emmett hummed. "It has, but he's still got some work to do." There was a knock on the door. "Come in." I said. "We're back!" Rose said carrying my bag, Alice had my pillow in her hand. "I know you sleep better with your own pillow." She said handing it to me. Emmett got up & I swung my legs around. Rose grabbed my hands, "Do you think you can stand?" She asked. "I have to try." I told her & she smiled at me.

She tightened her grip & I slowly started to stand up. I immediately fell into her, I felt her about to pick up my legs. "No." I said. "Give me a moment." I told her. She gripped my arms & after a few seconds I got my feet under me. I smiled at her. "Do you think you can walk." I nodded. "Slowly." I said. We took slow steps towards the bathroom. We stepped in & I sat on the edge of the tub. "Do you want me to do it?" I nodded. She used her speed to change my clothes quickly. "Thank you." I said. I stood up slowly on my own & walked towards the door. I opened it & saw my parents standing there. "How are you feeling?" I made my way towards the bed. "My knees are achy but it's not too bad." I said as I finally sat on the bed. I pulled up the covers & got underneath them. "We'll let you get some sleep." I nodded as I put the pillow behind my head. Someone cut the lights off & I closed my eyes. "So what are we going to tell Edward?" Emmett asked. "We do what Caila wants, & right now that means waiting till he gets back." My dad said. It didn't take long after that for me to fall into a deep sleep.
