Chapter 6

Fast Forward to late November

Caila's P.O.V.

I sneezed again as dad checked my heartbeat. "Well your heart and lungs sound fine. It's probably just a cold." He said as we all let out a sigh of relief. "We will still need to watch it carefully, because of the Lupus your immune system isn't as strong as it used to be." I nodded as I leaned my head on mom's shoulder. "Do you need anything before we all get comfortable for this movie?" I sat up against my head board and sniffled a little. "Some tea, because if my nose doesn't open up I may just cut it off." Mom chuckled as she got up. "I'll be right back with that." She said as she walked out and Alice and Rose entered. "So i thought you'd be tired of all that soup so I brought some popcorn, lightly buttered and lightly salted of course." I smiled at her before taking the bowl. "Thank you Alice!" Her and Rose quickly crawled up in the bed, Alice with her head on my lap and Rose next to me. "I guess Bella and Renesmee decided not to join us?" Alice asked. I shook my head. "Renesmee really wanted to play in the snow up on the mountain, so I told them they didn't have to join if they didn't want to." Suddenly mom came back in with my tea and saw us all piled up in my bed. "It's so nice to be like this for once with no stress." I took the tea and quickly agreed. "So, Father of the Bride right?" We all agreed as she put the movie in and sat on my other side. "Who gave you popcorn?" Before I could answer Alice answered. "Rose did it, I tried to talk her out of it!" Suddenly mom reached down and smacked Alice upside the head. Me and Rose busted out in laughter as Alice rubbed her head. "I know better than that." Suddenly her and Alice were grabbing at each other and fake fighting. "Chill out before I kick you both out!"  They stopped and looked at me. "Really?" Mom asked. "Yes, now watch the movie." She laughed before cuddling into my arm.  We laid there comfortably while we watched the movie, eventually exhaustion overtook me and I slowly fell asleep. 

An hour later

I jumped awake when I heard what sounded like glass breaking, the girls were gone and the movie was coming to an end. I threw my covers off of me and stood up, my knees aching in protest. I quickly came out of my room and ran downstairs to the living room where everyone was gathered around Edward at the piano. "We were just walking." Bella told Edward as Renesmee came to stand in front of her. "Ness was catching snowflakes." Jacob added. "Of course. Irina thinks Renesmee is an immortal child." I walked up behind Alice and Jasper. "Irina is in town?" I asked as Jasper put a hand on my shoulder. "She left when she saw Renesmee, and you need to be in bed." Dad told me. "Well I heard some glass breaking, so what's going on?" I asked. "Irina thinks Renesmee is an immortal child, so she informed the Volturi. Now they're coming here, for us." I took a deep breath. "So what is an immortal child, and why would Irina go to the Volturi with it?" My dad motioned us into his office. "Follow me, I have something that will explain everything." We walked into his office where he pulled a book off the shelf and told us about how the Denali's mother had created an immortal child. "Well, Renesmee's nothing like those children. She was born, not bitten, she grows every single day!" Bella stressed. "Too fast if you ask me." I said sitting on the floor and pulled Renesmee into my lap. "So can't you guys just explain that to the Volturi?" Jacob asked and even I knew from the stories that my dad has told me, it would never work. "Aro has enough proof in Irina's thoughts." "So we fight them?" I shook my head as Renesmee laid her head back on me. "No one can withstand their offense, Jane is too powerful." Jasper said. "Alec is even worse." My head perked up as Alec said that name. It peaked my interest. Jasper's head whipped around to me and narrowed his eyes. 

"Well then why don't we convince them?" Bella asked as she motioned Renesmee over to her, and I stood up. "They're coming to kill us, not talk." Emmett said, "But you're not going to let that happen." I said quickly nodding my head towards Renesmee who was now hiding behind her mother. "They may not listen to us, but maybe others can convince them. Carlisle you have friends all over the world." Dad immediately shook his head. "I won't ask them to fight." "Not fight. Witness, if enough people knew the truth then just maybe the Volturi would listen." Edward made a point. Everyone was silent for a moment until my mom turned to my dad. "We can ask this of our friends." Another moment of silence and my dad finally spoke up. "Okay, we will ask them. But we have to travel to them." Everyone agreed. "We all leave out tomorrow. We need to figure out who will travel where, and how." My dad told us. "Well I volunteer to stay home!" I said sitting down in the chair my dad vacated. "We should only be gone a few days. No more than four or five." I nodded. "I do have an idea though." Everyone turned their attention to me. "Since the Denali's have had first hand experience with immortal children, it would be very difficult to get them down here by just explaining. I say Edward, Bella, Renesmee and Jacob go to Denali so the family can have that first hand experience. It would be easier on everybody that way." Edward nodded. "Good thinking Caila." I smiled at him widely. "As for everyone else, figure it out. I have now done my part. I am now going to fix myself some lunch." I said bowing and walking out towards the kitchen. "No junk!" My dad yelled after me. I rolled my eyes. "I know!" I said going into the kitchen and finding something to eat. 

As I finished my shower and dried off I heard what sounded like someone sitting on my bed. Opening the door just enough to look out I saw my mom sitting on my bed, "Oh, it's just you. I was afraid you were one of the boys. I didn't wanna walk out here in just a towel if you were." She smiled and stood up. "Nope, just me." She said as I opened my dresser to pull out a sweater and some leggings. "Is everything okay?" She nodded. "I know your father gave you a choice and a little birdy told me you wanted to stay human." I nodded as I pulled on my leggings. "Yes, I did tell Rose that. Is there something wrong with that?" She shook her head. "No, of course not! It's just, do you know what you want to do with your life?" I shook my head. "I thought about the medical field but with the lupus I may need to figure something else out." She smiled. "Well I have an idea, stay here while I grab it." She stood up and walked over to my door and reached into the hallway. I quickly pulled on the sweater while she did that. Turning around she had a black acoustic guitar in her hands. "I know you sold yours when we sent you to school because you had no time for it, but I thought maybe you could pick up music again." I teared up as she handed it to me. "You really think I could do something with this?" She nodded. "Of course, you're so talented." I smiled. "I think i'll start working on some songs but I don't think I will attempt to do anything with it until we get my health in order." She smiled at me. "Sounds good, well i'm going back downstairs to get your meals all cooked." I set the guitar on the bed. "Oh mom, you don't-""I'm cooking and that's final! Good night!" I laughed. "Love you!" I got a chorus of 'I Love You's' from everyone downstairs, I picked up the guitar from my bed and turned to set it against the far wall next to my balcony doors when I found a stand in it's place. "Slick." I mumbled as I set it in the stand. I walked to my vanity and shook my hair with my towel before hanging the towel on the back of my chair,  I walked over to my bed before crawling in it and turning out my lights. I could vaguely hear everyone downstairs or in their rooms packing, but eventually sleep over took me and I dozed off into a deep sleep.

~Next Morning~

I finished running the straightener through my hair before I walked downstairs to see every packing last minute things. "At least we get to go to London again, we haven't been there in a long time." I smiled as my dad ran a hand through my moms hair, I turned to go down the next flight of stairs to check the mail and as I walked to the front door, I saw Sam Uley walking up to the house. "Hey- okay never mind." I said as Jake walked by me just as I was about to yell for him. I followed him outside and over to Sam, "What's going on?" Jake asked. "I have a note for Esme and Carlisle from Alice and Jasper." He nodded. "Everyone is in the den, come around here." I led them around the side of the house where my parents and siblings were already outside waiting. "Here, this is from Alice and Jasper. They crossed our lands last night and asked us to give this to you." Sam walked up on the porch to hand my father the note before stepping back down. I walked over to my mom who held her hand out for me. "Carlisle..." My father took a deep breath. "They left us." My mouth dropped in shock. "Why?" Rose asked. "They didn't say." "Can I see that?" Bella asked before inspecting the note. "That's unlike them, they wouldn't just leave. Not when we needed them the most." I said as my mom kissed my head. "We don;t have time to worry about that now." I nodded. "You're right. Everyone either has really long drives or flights to catch. So get moving, all of you!" They nodded. "Jake you're going with Renesmee right?" I asked and he nodded. "Sam would you mind popping in on the place once and a while, just to make sure she's okay?" He nodded. "We'd be happy to." We all went inside as Sam walked away. "I don't need a baby sitter you know." I told him. "He's not a baby sitter, someone from the pack is just gonna pop by once and awhile to make sure you're okay. You know, being sick and everything." I groaned. "But-" "No buts, me and your mother feel better knowing your not completely on your own out here. Especially with the Volturi coming." I rolled my eyes. "Edward will be back in three days with the Denali's, call if you need us." I nodded as they walked away. I told everyone goodbye and clicked the garage door button to close it just as Edward pulled out. I watched them go down the driveway and turned back to a quiet and empty house. "What to do now?" I asked myself out loud. I walked into the kitchen to eat, finding the quiet unnerving. "It's going to be a long three days."
