We spend our lives saying the words "I'm fine,"
When we're really not
Our lies beat down on us bringing us to tears
And it all happens because of those single trains of thought
That thought that we're not perfect
That thought that we're not tough
That thought that we're so stupid
That thought that we're not good enough
People always tell us otherwise
Saying that we're beautiful just the way we are
But at the end of the day
We still have clearly visible scars
We're still the same person
We're still the same broken one
We're still the one without a soulmate
Marked up with bruises that weigh a ton
So we lie here in the darkness
Whispering words to ourselves
Saying that there are better days coming
Hoping to tuck our memories of this away on shelves
Hoping they cover themselves with dust
Until the cobwebs no longer shine
Until we finally start understanding
And stop saying that we're fine.
