Yuri's POV
"Bye mom!" I yell and rush out the door and into the cab I called.
"Where to?" He asks looking in the mirror towards me.
"The airport please." He nods his head and takes a right to the airport.
The nerves inside my body are going ballistic even though I've seen him everyday for the past 5 months.
Oh him. The beautiful man skater that I've adored ever since I was a young boy. Every time I wake up and I think of him and now I won't have to leave his touch because he will be right there with me.
I've never felt this way about anyone. Especially a guy for the matter.
I've never felt that stomach drop feeling that I get when I'm with him with any one else. I've never felt my heart beat as fast as it does when I see him smile at me.
I've never felt so safe in the arms of someone than when I'm in the arms of Viktor Nikiforov.
My anxiety stops my hand on the door handle and I shake so much that the guy asks me if he should call the hospital.
"No, I-I'm alright." I stutter and push my glasses up the bridge of my nose.
"Meeting some one you love?" He smiles, making me chuckle slightly.
"It's not love. It's something more," I reply, to which he gives a surprised look.
"Ah, well good luck with her, sir." He tips his hat and I take that as my que to leave.
I push the door open and step into the cold and snowy air of Japan. The man speeds away to pick up the next rider.
I fast walk into the airport the welcoming warm air hits me like a hurricane and I release a breath of air I didn't know I was holding.
I fumble my way over to the waiting area that's past baggage claim. I take the seat closest to the door.
I look out the window and watch planes take off and land thinking of how amazing these last two months have been.
I skate backwards doing Viktor's choreography with out even thinking.
"Yuri, be sure to keep your knees bent when going into this next axel!" Viktor yells and I make a mental note and go into the axel and land it perfectly.
I speed up to go into the next jump. I spin into the air. I over rotate and fall and roll on the ground before stopping myself.
My breathing is heavy and my hands are cold as I keep my body off the Ice.
I close my eyes and let out a gnarled yell and feel some ones hand on my back.
"Yuuuri, don't get so worked up over a fall. You'll get the jump. I know you will." Viktor smiles in the cute little squinty way making his hair flop, falling onto his face.
I push myself off the ice and stand up, pulling Viktor up with me.
"You really believe so?" I ask. He nods.
"I know so," he says as he bumps my shoulder. "Here, just watch me do it one more time." He skates away and speeds around the rink. He goes into the jump. Of course everything perfect just like him. He lands effortlessly and does a small step sequence and then skates back over to me.
"Got it?" He asks and I nod my head.
I skate around and gain speed. I bend my knees and hold my breath before I fly into the air and do my turns. I feel the weight of my body return to my feet. I do the rest of the routine perfectly and skate back to where Viktor stands leaning on the outside of the rink.
"So?" I ask and breathe in and out heavily catching my breath."Yuri." He stops, his face serious. "That was amazing! I think you earned your self a pork cutlet bowl." He says and emphasizes amazing. I step out of the rink and my first reaction was to hug him.
I wrap my arms around him surprising him. He doesn't respond for a few seconds then wraps his arms tightly around my body. A shiver runs down my spin. I hold him closer to me and take in his cologne.
"Thank you." I whisper in his ear and let him go. He stares at me almost wanting to say something but deciding against it.
I sit down on one the benches and start to take my skates off. Viktor knees in front of me and puts his hand on me. I lift my head up a bit and he moves my hands away and starts to untie and take my skates off for me.
He puts them in my bag and grabs my hand and leads me out the door and on the way to my home.
~~
The memory makes my cheeks flush red. That day I knew I loved him. I was excited but I was scared. All of the thoughts ran through my head. What if he doesn't feel the same? What if my family doesn't support me? What if he doesn't even want to look at me if he finds out?
Every thought made me more and more anxious. I had to put everything into my skating to ignore them.
'Flight 23YOE has just landed' comes on a screen and I fly out of the chair and hurry to the front of the doors.
After 15 minutes I see people walk through the tunnel until finally I see his gray hair flop as he walks. He looks around. Suddenly, his eyes land on me and he starts to run.
The doors slide open and he jumps at me and I collapse backwards.
I bury my head in his neck and hold him tight so even if he wanted to, he couldn't leave.
I could feel the people around us stare, but none of that mattered.
All that mattered was that I was finally home.
