You felt the cool sleekness of the dress's silk graze your newly dried skin as you slowly slipped it on. Then, you went to the bathroom to do your makeup. Tonight was the banquet.
You would have been excited for the occasion, but instead, you were nervous-extremely nervous. Ever since that incident with Prompto, your mind had been blank, yet swirling with thought. Your heart was telling you it was true, but your head told you all of Prompto's words were false. You didn't know which to believe.
You drew the eyeliner lead steadily across your eyelid and down across the very bottom. Then, you applied mascara. You were never the one to wear makeup everyday. For you, cosmetics were pointless, unless it was for a very important event, like now. You had decided to leave your hair down, it would take too much time to fancy it up. Finally, you took out the little tube of blood-red lipstick and traced it on your lips very carefully. You leaned back and took a breath. You looked decent enough. Heck, you barely recognized yourself! You looked so different from the regular (y/n) just from the tiniest bit of change.
Your phone's alarm went off: it was time to go.

The whole palace was completely packed with people by the time you got there. Everyone was in very fine attire. All men were clad in either a tuxedo or royal uniforms. All women had elegant or elegant/slightly provocative gowns. Of course, everyone's clothes were black, hence being Lucis's colour.
Scanning the premises, no Noctis, no Gladio, no Prompto, no Ignis. And no Zeeta or Terror Twins.
...At least not yet.
"Hey, beautiful~" a familiar voice droned. You rolled your eyes and turned around. There Prompto stood with his hair in his usual style and a black suit, although it was missing a tie. When he recognized you, his smirk dropped and was replaced by a shocked expression.
"(Y-Y/n)?!"
"The one and only," you replied, hands on hips. Wide blue eyes scanned you frantically, clearly showing disbelief.
"Wow! You look amazing! Sorry I didn't recognize you..." You giggled.
"It's fine," you reassured him, "Anyway, have you seen the others."
"I don't know where Gladio is, but Ignis is with Noct, helping him practice his speech."
"Okay."
"You wanna go and get a drink with me?"
"Sure."
The kitchen was the only place that wasn't decorated, as far as you could tell. It was in shambles as a matter of fact. Dirty dishes were piled up, the counters covered with spilled liquid, and the floor had an enormous amount of flour on it.
"I wonder who could have done this," you said in a sarcastic tone.
"Hey! Noct had a part in this, too," Prompto whined. You shook your head and rolled your eyes.
"You're unbelievable sometimes," you replied.

An hour had passed since you first arrived. And in all that time, you relentlessly watched out for those three women. Not one of them had shown up. However, you still kept watch, ready to avoid them at all costs when they did arrive. Your strange behaviour caught Prompto's eye.
"Hey, are you alright?" he asked. You turned to look at him.
"Why do you ask?"
"You look scared. Is something wrong?"
"No, everything's fine. Just nervous, I guess," you reply, looking away from him. However, the blonde knew when you were lying. He didn't buy your little excuse.
