"You will have to go through the Chamber of Fears," the guy said."Please tell me that's not as bad as it sounds."
"Oh, it is."
"Oh, how reassuring."
"In the cave, you will have to face one, or multiple, of your worst fears."
"Sounds like fun," I replied.
"And before you go," he reached into his pocket and pulled out a pen. "Take this." He handed me the pen.
"You are not allowed to use your powers in the cave, so you'll need this."
"Even better. So basically I'm Percy Jackson."
I looked back up. He was gone.
"Alright, you've gotta stop doin' that!"
I looked inside the cave. I couldn't see anything inside. Just darkness.
"Well, here goes nothing."
After a few steps, I turned around. The entrance was gone. It was pitch black.
"Hello!" I yelled. I could hear my voice echoing throughout the cave.
No response. I felt a shiver go down my back. I turned around and clicked my pen to activate my sword.
"Yep," I whispered to myself, "I'm Percy Jackson."
There was a little light now. I could see just in front of me.
I kept walking forward. I wondered where my friends were and if they were okay. I walked for what felt like forever until I heard something. It sounded like something was crawling. It sounded like a... spider. I hate spiders. They are definitely one of my greatest fears. I clicked open my pen. I turned around slowly. In front of me was a spider. As big as flatscreen. Its beady, glittering eyes staring right me.
It leaped at me. I jumped to the side. I tried to stab it, it leaped behind me. It jumped at me. I swung my sword, but I missed the spider. It bit me in the forearm. It started stinging. I couldn't let my defense down. I would have to fight with only my right hand. I looked for the spider. Before I could find it, it leaped at me and bit me in the leg. Now my leg started stinging. I couldn't give up. The spider was right in front of me. This time, I went on the offensive. I attacked it. I swung my sword. This time, I hit it. It exploded into golden dust.
I kept walking. It was more of a limp now. After a little while, I started to see light in front of me. I limped there as fast as I could. I reached the light. I was on a cliff. I t was windy. I looked behind me. Darkness. I was not going back in there. I know what I have to do. Even though I was deathly afriad of heights. I had to jump.
"Here goes nothing," I said. And with the wind blowing in my face, I jumped.
