"Oh, come on! You look fine!" Lea, my best friend, exclaimed, finishing her makeup. She wanted me to go with her to some frat party at Phi Beta. Every atom in my body did not want to go.

"I don't want to go."

"You promised!" She whined.

"Promises were meant to be broken," I protested. "Besides, isn't Bryan going to meet you there?"

Bryan Mendez, who she'd been stalking him since the eighth grade, had finally asked her out. Now that puberty hit her, guys seemed to fall at her feet.

"Yes! I've waited for this day for my whole life, and I can't believe you're gonna ditch me," she said, pouting.

I sighed.

"If it makes you feel better, I'll drop you off and pick you up."

She nodded, so I threw my ombré purple-blue hair into a messy ponytail and then grabbed my keys after pulling on a sweatshirt.

During the ride there, Lea incessantly asked me questions like:
"What if he doesn't like me?"
"Are you sure I don't look fat?"
"Isn't he cute?"

I stopped in front of the house, which reeked of alcohol, not to my surprise.

"Have fun. Got your pepper spray?" I asked, peeking into her purse to make sure. She nodded and got out. I drove home, where I ordered Chinese food, which was a godsend.

I was knee-deep into a scary movie when my phone buzzed.

"What's up, boo?" I asked.

"C-come and get me p-please... NO! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" The phone cut out. I grabbed my keys and my switchblade, racing out of the house and over to get her.

Pushing people out of my way, I looked around the house. There was no sign of her downstairs, so I jogged up the stairs and opened the first couple of doors to find random drunken girls having the times of their lives.

At the end of the hallway, I heard a thud, so I opened the door.

"Brandi..." Lea whispered weakly. Bryan was on top of her, pawing at her body, unaware of my presence in the doorway.

I lunged towards them and ripped him off of her, pulling out my blade.

He wiped his mouth.

"You bitch... we were in the middle of something."

"Yeah? Well, now you aren't." I said shakily.

He lurched towards me and punched me in the gut, knocking me over and falling on top of me. He started ripping my clothes off my body. Desperately scratching and punching him, I whimpered in hopes that someone would hear. I started to black out until I felt him being pulled off of me. I looked up to see Lea with my knife, stabbing him repeatedly. I watched his body relax, and I pulled her off of him, grabbing the knife and putting it back into my pocket.

Wrapping her arms around me, she and I walked out of that frat house and never looked back.
