"Evie," came the soft, gentle voice of Jenna from behind me. I looked up and saw her looking at me from where I was, sat cross-legged on the rocky ground, and she sat down beside me. "Zain says you've been sitting here all day."

I nodded, staring down the mountain.

"It's almost sunset. Come inside."

I shook my head vigorously, before saying, "Something's meant to happen soon."

"One of your vision thingies?" she asked, handing me a bottle of water. I took it and drank thirstily, not stopping for air until the bottle was nearly empty. I handed it back to her.

"They're not visions," I told her seriously. "They're feelings I get. I dunno how or why."

She nodded understandingly, though she'd never understand. Nobody would understand what I was going through.

"Janju's calling you for dinner, by the way. She's a bit angry."

She stood up and smoothed down her skirt before pulling me up with her. "And Carter and Zahra have put toy snakes in your bed, by the way."

"Thanks," I grinned, but my smile faded. "But I really need to stay here."

"Why?"

"I already told you, Something's going to happen!"

She sighed as I sat back down, my eyes once again transfixed on the horizon. The golden sun was setting behind me, so I couldn't see it, but It sent a pretty rosy aura throughout the darkening blue sky. I didn't hear Jenna leaving, but I presumed that she'd gone by the fact that I couldn't hear breathing behind me.

I checked the battered old watch Jenna gave me; it was half past seven. If I looked down the mountain, I could usually see people climbing up the mountain, and today was no different.

The silhouettes of two young boys were slowly making their way up. I could see them more clearly as time wore on. One of them had blonde hair and blue eyes, he was shorter and plumper than the other. The other had brown hair and sea green eyes, like me. He was the one who spoke first.

"Evie?" he said. Running up the rest of mountain to me in a matter of seconds, he kept repeating my name. He eyed my face hungrily before pulling me into a hug. I pushed him away at once.

"Do I know you?" I asked.

"You- you don't remember?" he said, stuttering. "Do you know who that is?" he asked, pointing at his friend, who was still jogging rather slowly towards us.

"I don't recognise anyone," I told him. "I've lost my memory."

"You just ran off-" said the fat boy, panting. "I tried- Evie?"

"How do you know me?"

"You honestly forgot?" asked the first boy. "I-I'm Jason. Your brother."

"Prove it," I challenged.

"All right. Your name is Evelyn Payne, but hate that name and prefer to go by Evie. You have an older brother, me. Your favourite colour is blue, the colour of the sky. You can speak fluent Italian, because our Mum's from Italy. Her name's Astoria, by the way. You hate anything that involves work, your best friends are Jasmine Reynolds and Ava Hills, and I'm surprised I know that."

I stared at him open mouthed, and managed to choke out the words, "I didn't even know half of that."

He stared at me before hugging me again. This time, I didn't hold back. Even though I didn't know what he told me about myself, I believed every word of it. Kind of like I knew that something was meant to happen today.

I had a brother. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I hugged him tighter. The first thing from before I lost my memory jogged some of it back. I felt my life whizz before my eyes, but in a good way. Jason and I playing in the playground when I was four. Jason going away on a residential trip and I was crying. Jason was clapping for me in a large audience at my first ballet.

Something in the past few months had gone right.
