Braces and Halo

Leo thought that braces were quite possibly the worst thing ever. (A/N: I have braces, and I agree with him). They hurt like hell, he couldn't eat popcorn or candy, and worst of all, he couldn't really talk, so the hilarious quip he wanted to say to Percy he couldn't say. And it was a good one. In short, he hated braces. They were awful.

"Oh come on, Leo, they can't be that bad!" Jason said, frowning at him.

"Yea dude, my sister has braces and loves them! She said your mouth hurts for like three days and then it's fine."

This had been happening a lot lately. Ever since a few weeks ago when a new child of Poseidon was claimed, almost every sentence that came out of that boy's mouth was about his sister. All "My sister loves that!" "Oh, yesterday my sister said this hilarious thing." "My sister did that once!" all the time. It wasn't obnoxious, it was actually almost kinda cute. The way his face lit up while talking about the latest thing his sister had said or done was sort of endearing. Leo had never met his sister, but the way Percy talked about her, he wouldn't be surprised of she was an actual goddess.

"Oh trust me, they -ow!- are."he responded, holding the ice pack he had been holding up to his face, which at this point had almost melted completely. It had only been about 5 minutes, but usually ice and a human heat source don't mix.

"All right, no need to be dramatic." Jason said, rolling his eyes. "Why don't we ask Chiron if we can go to the movies? My treat."

Leo lit up, his pain forgotten. "YAAAY-ow!"

After the movies and a trip to Wendy's (due to a "My sister says these are better than McDonalds" from Percy) they all decided to just hang out in the Poseidon cabin for an hour or so.

"Come on in, but be kinda quiet because I think my sister might be asleep." Percy said, fiddling with the key to the cabin.
The door was swung open, and Leo tiptoed inside until he caught sight of something that made his heart stop. A girl was sitting on the bed.

Playing Halo.

She had her hair in a high ponytail, a Panic! At The Disco sweatshirt on, and a game controller in her hands. The TV cast a light glow on her face as she concentrated completely on the screen. She smirked slightly, as she blew the blew the head off of a level 4.

"Woah." he whispered, staring at the gaming beauty.

"One sec Perce, let me just level up." she said, not looking away from the screen.

When she leveled, she paused the game and looked up for the first time since they had walked in. She noticed the other guys for the first time.

"Oh, hey! Sorry I didn't see you guys. I'm Y/N." she said, grinning. When he looked up at her mouth, he saw that she did, in fact, have braces, and she did, in fact, look adorable.

"Hey, I'm Jason," Jason said, stepping in front of Leo and shaking her hand. "And the guy who has apparently forgotten how to speak is Leo. It's nice to meet you."

Fuck, he must've been staring. Embarrassed, he tried to mumble a hi, but it came out more a-
"Hen-ahugh-anihghah. Heghuhahahagh."

Luckily, she didn't seem to notice. She laughed, turning toward her brother.
"Hey, dude. How was the movie?" she said.

"Eh, fine. How was the concert today?"

"Oh. My. God. It was so sick! They played almost every song from Death Of A Bachelor, and they pulled a throwback and sang New Perspective! It was dope! I can't even explain it. At the end, Brendon Urie jumped off the stage and was literally TWO FEET from me! He stared right at me, I swear. It was AMAZING."

Percy laughed, hugging her. "It sounds like it was really fun."

"You play Halo?" Leo asked, trying to change the subject because he had no idea what was going on.

"Yeah, do you?" she responded, sitting back on her bed.

"Uh, I used to. I'm a little rusty." he said, picking up her controller.

"Well we should play together sometime." she smiled at him. "If you don't mind losing every round."

Okay, he was in love. Not only was this girl hot as fuck, and totally out of his league, she was a gamer. And what is better than a hot girl gamer? A hot girl gamer with a cocky side. She was perfect. He didn't stand a chance. There was no way he could play with her without embarrassing himself one way or another. Still, he was Percy's friend, and she seemed nice...

"Oh you're ON!" he heard himself say, though he didn't quite believe what was coming out of his mouth. "Let's hope you can focus on the game while this irresistable guy is sitting next to you." he smirked, and to his surprise, she laughed.

"All right, hot stuff. Grab a controller. Let's do this." she said, already switching to multiplayer mode.

Ohhhhhhh shit.

As you guys played, the other boys quietly ducking out with small smirks on their faces, Leo forgot all about his braces. All he cared about was getting to the next level: both with the game, and with you.
