Kaiji POV
(A few months later)Ring Ring Ring
My alarm clock rings and I throw my blankets out as I jump out of bed.
"First day of school!" I shout as I quickly grab my gakuran and get myself ready for school.
I totally slept in!
Normally Tenma, my older brother, would wake me up, but he's in college now so I can't rely on him anymore. I immediately head out of the house with a piece of toast of my mouth.
I'm going to be late!
I rush out to my bike and get my bike ready, but suddenly I see a shadow over me.
"Kaiji why are you rushing, you're not going to be late. You have 30 minutes before school starts," Akiko, my childhood friend, states as she comes out of her house for school.
"I know, but I have to take pictures of the new first years as the president of the photography club," I tell her and she giggles.
"More like you're the only member in the photography club," Akiko jokingly says and I slightly frown.
"I'll definitely will get some new members this year," I confidently tell her and happily grin. "Akiko you should join the club. You always liked the photos I take. It would be fun to have you in the club."
Akiko scoffs. "But if I join the photography club then attend all their activities and listen to people like you who's all geeky about photography."
I sweatdrop. "You don't have to be so mean about it."
"I know," she answers and smiles. "But it's you so I have the obligation to say that to my childhood friend."
"I guess you do," I shrug and then pat the back of my bicycle. "I also have the obligation to give you a ride to school Akiko. One can say it's a better than walking to school." I wink.
"Pfft. Why thank you," Akiko giggles but a sad look forms on her face. "You know Kaiji, you're too nice. People are going to misunderstand your kindness," Akiko says as she gets on the bike and I laugh.
"Haha I don't think so," I happily answer and start pedaling my bike to school for the new year.
A new year huh?
I feel the wind blow my hair as I pedal on my bike.
This year is going to definitely be another good year. I can feel it.
"Hey Kaiji. Don't you have a girl in mind that you're somewhat interested in?" Akiko asks me.
....
For some reason, my thoughts go to the girl that I met at the Track and Field Meet a few months ago. Shimizu.
Shimizu definitely stood out to me. She seems like the quiet and shy type of person, but she's not. When it came to the hurdles, she was definitely stood with confidence.
I want to see her again and get to know her, but I won't see her ever again. I sigh. I need to get over it because I'll probably won't ever see her again.
