Kaiji POV
I quickly check the time of my cellphone. It's only 5:00 p.m. so not too late. I know the discounts for today end at 6:00 p.m. so I still have an hour left to shop.
"Good morning Kaiji," one of my neighbors stops to greet me after coming out of the supermarket.
"Hahaha good morning Mrs. Tsukishima," I greet back. "How are you doing?"
"Great!" She smiles. "How about you? How's high school going for you?"
"Hahaha good," I tell her. "It's my second year now so I'm starting to get used to it."
"I'm glad. I wish my kids were like you, always happy and filled with energy. I'm worried for Kei when he gets to high school. He's so antisocial. The only friend that he still has Yamaguchi. I wish he could have more friends," Mrs. Tsukishima sighs. "Not to mention Akiteru, college is making him stress out so much. I don't even think he knows what he's majoring in."
"Hahaha Tenma is the same way," I laugh.
"Oh he's in college now," Mrs. Tsukishima gasps.
"He started this year," I tell her.
"Amazing, you two have grown up so much! Your father would be so happy to see you so grown up now," Mrs. Tsukishima says as she pats me on the back.
"Hahaha thanks," I keep a smile on my face as I try to keep my posture.
After our greetings, I head to the supermarket to buy the food. With mom working late everyday, I'm the one who does the cooking at home. It's always been like that. When Tenma was home and I cooked for him, he always told me how he wished that he could take me with him to college to cook for him but even I was creeped out by that and rejected the idea.
I grab a coupon book from a nearby stand and look into it. Hmmm there's some good discounts on the meat. Maybe I can make some beef stew today.
I go to the vegetable aisle and sorted through the vegetables for beef stew. Just thinking about food is making me hungry. I put all the food into the shopping cart.
Now for the meat. I got to the aisle for meat and to my surprise, I recognized the blond hair boy standing there as he chooses which meat to buy.
"Touya how's the meat?" I ask and he jolts up surprised by my presence.
"K-Kaiji what are you doing here?" Touya says in shock. "Don't tell me that you're—"
"No I'm not stalking you or anything. I normally shop here," I straightforwardly tell him before he gets any wrong ideas.
He sighs in relief. "Oh I see, what a coincidence then," he says and continues staring at the meat.
"Do you need some help choosing what meat to buy?" I ask curiously as in why he's just staring at the meat for so long.
Touya blushes. "It's kind of embarrassing but I was just choosing which discounted meat is the best. To be honest I don't shop for food often hahaha." He awkwardly laughs.
"I don't think that's embarrassing," I tell him as I examine the meat on sale. "My brother would probably be the same as you and just stare at meat for an hour because he doesn't know anything about cooking either," I smile.
