Chapter 8 ( Concepts of sorry)

Peridot's P.O.V.

Sigh, I must have sounded like a complete jerk for saying something like that. I didn't mean to say that but I couldn't help myself. I didn't understand Topaz.....at all. He just didn't act like a Topaz on home world, in fact none of the gems did, not even me, at least not anymore. However, I could understand why Topaz was the way he was. He was curious just like I was when I first discovered myself. Earth can set you free just like it did with him. Everything must be so hard to take in with him. I should apologize though I found this rather difficult and I was sulking near Beach City's board walked, groaning in response to the gems persistence.

Pearl: Peridot where did he go?

Amethyst: You didn't have to upset him so bad that he ran away.

I didn't think he'd actually run away.

Pearl: He doesn't understand Earth just yet, he could be lost or worse.

Pearl said worriedly.

Steven: I think you should apologize Peridot, at least whenever he comes back. Wherever he is. I hope he's ok.

Seconds later, Lapis flew over head, landed beside us.

Lapis: I looked everywhere and I couldn't find him.

I thought to myself. Did he actually leave or was he hiding? That's when a sudden realization popped into my head. Without warning, I ran way from the gems, back to the barn. Like I had thought, Topaz, hadn't run away, he left momentarily for something and then hid away for some reason. I knew he was here because I could hear his favorite show playing in the background. Looking up, I started climbing the ladder to the upper platform of the barn, only peek my head from a thick pile of bushes and see Topaz in front of the television with his back facing me. Slowly and quietly I inched towards him but froze up, not knowing what to say or do when his eyes met mine. Regardless of trying to stay silent, Topaz had a habit of knowing when someone was near and he turned to face me.

My eyes slowly widened to see what was in his hands.

Peridot: My bubble.....you got it back for me.

Looking up at him I could see he had a little trouble because he had a few minor injuries on his body.

Topaz: I'm sorry I lost it. I thought you'd be happier if I brought it back. It took a while but I managed to catch it. I understand why you where upset, these things are extremely hard to catch but once you do, you feel complete.

He say before walking over and placing the bubble into my hands.

Topaz: I'm sorry if you don't like my bubble color.

Peridot: No, it's fine.

I said in response. Upon touching my hands the bubble reverted back to green. I tapped the top of it and it went right back to it's designated spot in the barn. Working up my courage and trying to hold back a faint blush, I blurted out what I wanted to say to Topaz before I was riddled with regret and embarrassment.

Peridot: I'm sorry about what I said. I didn't mean to say those thing.

Topaz: It was my fault but I understand now.

He said before going back to watch his shows on the TV.

Meanwhile.......

Steven: Garnet, aren't you upset Topaz is missing?

Garnet: Not at all. Something tells me he's right where he needs to be.

She said as she pushed up her visors.

Garnet: We'll see him again, you can count on it.

Time skip.....( Two days later)

Topaz: Wait, your telling me this stuff grows out of the ground like us?

Peridot: Yup, this is called farming and this is corn.

I say holding up the golden husk of corn to show Topaz. It was nice having someone around who absolutely appreciated everything I did. He was always so interesting in everything I had to show and teach him.

Topaz: I didn't even know human can eat stuff like this.

Peridot: Neither did but I'm still learning about farming myself.

Topaz: Your so smart Peridot.

For someone reason I blushed at his words and I tried to hit this fact so he wouldn't notice. It was kind of awkward being around Topaz, especially when we were alone. I didn't understand why but my face would always grow warm when he came closer. I often observed him to see if he was also experiencing what I was but it didn't seem like it. It was like I was the only one acting weird. He grabs my hand a lot and for some time now, his gem had morphed into my gem for a while but he never said anything about my memories. Maybe he didn't want to bring them up. My memories before Earth aren't the same as they were now. I was a different gem then.

Which begs the question for Topaz. Did he enjoy being here on Earth. He doesn't yet understand the concepts of a planet and living on a planet yet but he looks confused more than anything else and is always looking up into the sky.

Peridot: Topaz....do you....like it here....on Earth?

I asked him.

Topaz: It's new and there's a lot of things I don't understand but it's so unique. I had never knew such things could exist.

He said as he tried poking a butterfly that had flew by and landed on a flower.

Topaz: Besides, I like it here. I like living here with you.

He said as he plucked a flower and handed it to me.

Peridot: Oh......

I say as I accepted the flower and sticking it into my triangular shaped hair.

Topaz: Peridot, are you ok? Your face his getting darker in your cheek area.

Peridot: What?! Yes, I'm fine!

Topaz: Come on, let me see.

He said as his face neared mine. Tying to hide from him, I ended up toppling over, only for him to catch me when I half expected to landed face first into the ground.

Topaz: Your so light....and short.

he said smugly as he chuckled.

Peridot: Shut up!

I say to him as I shove him aside and run away. I could hear him laughing at me from behind as he chased me around the barn.
