Helpless. Look into your eyes and the sky's the limit.
How long has it been now? Years? Years that I've liked you.
Helpless. Down for the count, and I'm drowning in 'em
You waited a whole semester to be with me. You didn't date anyone else. You waited for me.
...One week later I'm writing a letter nightly. Now my life gets better every letter that you write me.
We talk and it's beautiful and oh how it would feel to be yours. I am so close to being yours.
————
I saved every letter you wrote me. From the moment I read them, I knew you were mine, you said you were mine, I thought you were mine. How long has it been? A few months? Half a year since we've spoken, since you've cared.
I'm searching and scanning for answers in every line, for some kind of sign, and when you were mine, the world seemed to burn.
You were mine and I was yours for a year. ONE YEAR. I look back on how much I loved you and I wonder, what the hell happened?
I dreamed of how it would feel to be yours. I never imagined how it would feel to lose you.

Author's note:
The Helpless section of this poem is from my freshman year when I was in love. I never posted it.
The Burn section was written today. I woke up feeling broken and lonely. I woke up reminded of how I used to be so in love.
I forgot how much I used to love him.
