A plot was being planned of which Roger had no idea. It was more than just double crossing Roger. The time at which Judy went to Marvin's house, Roger was wandering the local area in his car. Although there was nothing he should be afraid of, he hesitated on going home.
He went home around 10:30pm. Judy was sitting on the couch watching TV and laughing. "Go on. Laugh at me for being this stupid", Roger thought.
"Oh hi honey, what took you so long?", she said. Her eyes still fixated on TV and Roger thought of how verisimilitude her act of loving him can be.
"Dinners on the table", Judy said and let out a vivacious laughter.
Roger opened his plate and there were mashed potatoes with macaroni. He liked macaroni.
"Say, I've came around this kid today. Um..what was his name? Ah yea, Marvin. Marvin Harper", Roger said eating his dinner.
Judy straightened. Like she was under some spell. She didn't say a word. A part of her thought of lying, but the other part just persuaded her that he's a detective, he'll soon find out. "It-It's not what it seems like", she said finally. Her back was turned against Roger. She couldn't face him.
"Then tell me how its like Judy",
"I-I can't",
"TELL ME HOW ITS LIKE JUDY HARRINGTON!", Roger screamed his lungs out and threw the plate at the wall making Judy squeak. She stood up and grabbed her jacket from the wall hanger.
"OH SO YOU'RE LEAVING ME NOW FOR THIS 11 YEAR OLD!",
"I-I can't tell you Roger what it is, but please believe me, it's nothing like that", Judy was crying by now.
"OH DON'T YOU PLAY THAT ON ME",
Judy shut the door on his face and Roger turned around. He started blaming everything on himself. He wished that the last hour never happened. He wished that he could just go back in time and do this right. He wished. But that is not possible, is it?
He cringed and cried sitting on the floor. Judy rushed inside and held his face between her palms. "It's not what you think it is. I promise you I'll tell everything when I get back", and kissed his forehead. She left again but this time Roger was fine. He looked at the clock. '11:00' it said. He stood up to wash his face when the phone beeped. It was Judy's, she forgot her phone.
"Kate's leaving. She's on her bicycle.", the text read.
Roger was confused. Why an unknown number is texting her? Who's it and why this person is telling Kate's whereabouts to Judy. She said she'd be home next week so why now? Roger thought. He wanted to find answers. He wanted to end this life of secrecy that Judy's been living so he followed her. She parked her car at a house opposite to Kate's, Roger observed. Roger had parked his car almost at a convincing distance. He saw Judy enter Marvin's house without ringing the bell. The phone beeped again.
"She passed the 6th avenue. Think she headed for school", another unknown number. Who the hell are these people? Are there more? This is a plot. Conspiracy, he thought and what he decried the most was that Judy is a part of it.
He saw Judy and what seemed like Marvin enter Marvin's car. Roger ducked. Roger knew that the third unknown person would have texted Marvin also. He was a detective and knew the area very well. 20 years of experience ain't less. He knew where they both were going. Roger turned his car around and took another route to the same destination. School.
Roger drove as fast as he could, breaking all the traffic rules and putting his license on sake. But what the hell, who would catch him at this time?
He reached school and saw Marvin's car. On the side door, was standing Marvin, smoking a Marlboro (Roger knew it was Marlboro because he smoked it too, sometimes). He got out from his car and Marvin coughed on seeing him. He quickly tossed the cigarette the other way when he saw Roger.
"Sir, I swear to god it wasn't marijuana. It was just a cigarette. Are you from DEA?"
And Bam! Roger's famous right hook across the left cheek of a 16 year old. He started bleeding and Roger showed no mercy. He grabbed his collar. Beating teens was his favourite because it knocked some sense into their adolescent mind.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING! YOU TELL ME NOW AND YOU TELL ME AT ONCE!" he screamed.
The kid scoffed. Roger was shocked at his guts. For a thin, geeky guy, he sure had a lot of guts.
"It's too late hombre, she might have done it already", Marvin said smiling.
"Where. Is. She?", Roger said looking dead serious in the eyes of Marvin.
"A-At the terrace", Marvin stammered.
Roger rushed inside the school. There wasn't any guard on duty and he thought what a shit school this is. He ran inside and up to the 1st, then 2nd......3rd ........4th ......5th .......and finally the terrace. He took his position behind the wall beside the gate of the terrace and loaded his gun.
Click! Oh how Roger loved the sound of loading his gun. But giving the circumstances of the situation. It was the worst. He leaned to take a look, Judy was standing with her back turned towards him. She and Kate both were facing each.
"Why?", Kate said as a tear rolled down her cheek. The only one she looked up to turned out to be this way. The only one she thought would protect her, turned out to be this way. She couldn't face it. She turned away and tried to run.
Roger saw Judy reach for the thing that was held by the strap of her sweatpants. She lifted her top just a little above her butt and took out a shiny piece of metal. A thing that was enough to make Roger petrified.
She stabbed Kate tearing her lavender-printed top and her back. Blood came out like a broken faucet. She lacerated Kate and dropped the weapon. Judy turned around. Her hand covered in blood as she saw Roger standing in front of the door. She ran to him. Roger held her in his arms.
"What'd you do?", Roger asked, still petrified and his eyes wide open.
Judy started crying. Oh yeah, you should cry bitch. Roger thought but didn't say it.
"What did you do Judy?",
"Please save me", she looked at Roger with her teary eyes. "I'll explain later but please you have to save me".
"Go", Roger said.
"B-But",
"Meet me at home", Roger said and Judy ran.
Roger knew that if he was going to call police there'll be questions and sooner or later they'll find that it was Judy. It might even shit on Roger's career. He strolled around, and saw a cellphone by the rails. He picked it up. She was about to text someone but didn't send it. Or couldn't.
He looked at the number. 'Matthew Park', it showed.
"Can you find your way to the school's terrace?", the text read.
Roger pressed 'send'.
