It seemed like our plan was working. Ronnie hadn't been avoiding Aiden or me at all today, and was actually in a good mood with us with the whole "just friends" thing in mind.
Aiden and I decided that we both liked her too much to not have her in our lives, so we would pretend to get along until she finally made a decision. And it was working just great.
The only downside to the plan was that I actually had to pretend to like Aiden. He wasn't terrible, but there was something about him I just didn't like at all. I still believed he was hiding something, but now that we were "buds" I had an even better shot at figuring out what his deal was.
"So, big game tonight huh?" Ronnie asked as she sat between Aiden and me during lunch. Originally Aiden and Celia were sitting next to her, but I couldn't let him steal her away from me again so I pulled up a chair beside her, moving Celia over a bit. She didn't seem to mind though and I swore I saw her give me a thumbs up.
"McKinley High's got a pretty rough hockey team, but I think we'll do alright." Luke answered. "Why, are you finally going to come watch us play again?"
Celia must have kicked Luke beneath the table because he was soon grabbing his leg and looking at her with a confused look. "Ow! What was that for?"
She shrugged, "Sorry, my legs get spasms sometimes."
"Are you going to be alright to play tonight?" Ben questioned.
Luke nodded and laughed slightly, "Yeah, it's fine. I'll probably get a bruise if anything."
"What about you, are you going to be alright to play tonight?" Aiden asked, looking at Ben who was out of practice all week from dropping the bowling ball on his foot.
His eyes rose and he quickly looked to Ronnie who seemed excited.
She smiled, "I think his foot is better to play, he walked around the mall just fine yesterday."
"But he hasn't practiced in a week. That could be dangerous." I butted in. I wanted Ronnie to play tonight, but not if she wasn't ready to. She hadn't practiced any drills all week since she couldn't because of Ben's injury. I'm sure she could skate just fine like she always did, but the team we were playing tonight liked to play rough and I didn't want her to get hurt.
Aiden shook his head, "We need Ben, man. He's so fast on the ice."
Ronnie grinned, "Exactly, I think he should play."
I slightly rolled my eyes and then smiled because she looked so cute when she was excited. "Fine, you can play Ben."
"..Okay?" Ben stated in an uneasy tone since he hadn't even taken part in the conversation at all.
"You can play, right?" Aiden asked.
He shot Ronnie a look and she lightly nodded, so he nodded. "Yep, I can play."

We were in the locker room after the first period, catching our breath and drinking lots of water for the seventeen minute intermission we had.
Ronnie usually kept towards the back where no one was during this time or made an excuse to get away for a few minutes since she felt uncomfortable in the guys' locker room, which I didn't blame her for.
I didn't see her as I stood there, but I did hear her name.
Not sure of where it came from, I looked around until I saw Aiden grinning with some of his other friends.
