I'd been decorating my room all weekend long and I was beginning to go crazy. Decorating seemed simple in theory, but not for a perfectionist like myself. Especially a perfectionist who was trying to reinvent herself and start new.
I wanted my room to resemble the new me. The black chalkboard walls were a nice touch because the way they contrasted with the vibrant colors of the chalk designs, which I spent hours making by the way, kind of reminded me of my new personality. Everything that had happened from the whole skating thing made me a bit darker inside, but I was finding new things to brighten up my life - as cheesy as it sounded.
My bed was set up nicely in the middle of my room against the wall, a deep purple comforter on top of it. There were tons of decorative pillows on top of it as weel, which made my room feel much more complete.
Instead of boxes, my clothes were now arranged as neatly as ever in one tall, black dresser and one long, black dresser. I also had a small closet that fit my shoes and some of my more fancier clothes.
The only thing I had left to do to make my room perfect was finish adding photos, which is what I had been doing all afternoon. I didn't leave my room once since I really wanted to get it done before the school week began tomorrow.
"Rons, dinner is ready." Luke said, tapping on my door before heading downstairs so that he could eat.
I was hungry since I hadn't eaten all day besides an apple in the morning, but I was motivated to finish my room before I did anything else.
While decorating, I completely had no concept of time because before I knew it there was a knock at my door again.
"Yes?" I called, not knowing who it was.
"I have food for you." a deep voice stated.
I figured it was just Luke again. "Come in!"
My eyes were focused on the picture I was neatly placing inside of a pretty silver frame. It was a photo of my mom skating when she was about my age; my favorite photo of her. I just didn't know where to put it.
"Wow, this looks nothing like that old office." the person who had knocked stated in awe as they entered.
I turned and noticed it was Harry, not Luke.
"Don't you ever go home?" I teased, but was actually somewhat serious. He literally was always here. The neighbors probably thought Liz had two sons living here at this point.
Harry shrugged. "Not really. Your room though, wow..."
I smiled triumphantly. "Like it?"
He nodded, "Looks great, I can't believe you did this all by yourself."
"It's believable if I told you how much time I spent in here working on it." I stated with a small chuckle.
He grinned, "Yeah, I heard. I was told you hadn't eaten all day since you were cooped up in here, which is why I had to bring you this." He stated, gesturing to the plate of food in his hand.
I grinned, "You can leave it on my desk. I have one more photo I need to put out and then I'll eat."
I turned my back towards him and picked up the photo of my mom again, trying to decide where a good spot for it would be.
"Woah, who's that?" Harry asked, leaning over my shoulder to see the photo.
I smiled sadly. "My mom."
"She's beautiful." Harry stated, still looking at the photo.
"Yeah, she was." I agreed.
He looked at her in the photo and then at me. "You know, you look just like her."
