The car ride to the mall felt like it was only a minute as we talked about everything and anything. I had missed Ava more than I can say. We talked of our inside jokes and laughed like crazy like we never parted. That's the thing about best friends, even when you've been apart for so long when you come together you're better than ever. Kinda like a slingshot effect. You're pulled apart maybe as far as you can go but then you're flung right together again. It's the best feeling being together again. I don't think you really realize how much you miss someone until you're together again. She held my hand the whole way there. I could tell she wanted to talk but she knew better than to just hit me with it. SHe's always been understanding like that. She would ease me into talking about it or maybe not even bring it up at all knowing it wasn't my favorite topic of conversation. I couldn't tell which route she was taking today.
We walked around the mall for about an hour just roaming and looking until We probably annoyed all the workers but that didn't really bother us. Even though she has a boyfriend we had fun spotting guys that we found cute and laughing at them when they kept walking by us. I couldn't do any of this with Grey without him groaning and moaning and asking if we could leave. It was fun being able to hang out with a girl for once. I was never really able to get along with girls that well especially having someone as attractive as Grey being my best friend. All the girls seemed to despise me for being so close to him while they couldn't be unless he used them as a little fling. Ava always tells me that he does that because there's only one person he wants to be with but can't have her. I would totally believe that if it weren't for the fact that she said that person was me. Sure I had a crush on him years ago but we're best friends and that's it. I don't know why people can't understand that.
As we sat down and ate our pizza in the food court my phone buzzed.
Elliot: what time do you want to meet up?
Truthfully, I didn't want to anymore. I was having fun with Ava and I don't know what will happen when I go see him. All I do know is that it won't make me as happy as I am right now. Actually this talk would probably break another piece of me.
I'm pretty sure she could sense my mood change when she grabbed my hand and gave me a small smile.
"How about I buy you something?" She asked. " With my new job I have plenty of money to spend."
I gave her a tiny grin. "Hmmmm..I guess I could use some new clothes and some ice cream."
"Whoa there chica!" She exclaimed causing me to laugh a bit. "I said something not a whole new wardrobe and dinner for 8."
"Hey! I don't eat that much!" I told her.
"Have you seen yourself? You can eat three full course meals in thirty minutes and not even gain a pound!"
"Same to you hun." I said elbowing her in the side. "You're thinner than me."
"Touche." She smirked.
With that she took my hand and we began walking through the mall again. She looked as gorgeous as usual today. She had on some bright blue washed down jeans with a floral crop top that was covered by a tan cardigan and she wore tan heeled boots. An outfit I could never pull off. I just had on my black skinny jeans that were ripped at the knee along with a sweatshirt Grey got my that read geek across the front in bold black letters and I wore some high top converse. Yep she's obviously way girlier than me.
As we walked I faintly heard someone say my name but I ignored it.I didn't need anyone right now. Interruptions are very unwelcomed at the moment. I'm happy and no one needs to ruin that. I was filled with content when I didn't hear my name again. It looks like they clearly got the message that I didn't want to talk to them.
"Sky!!" An annoyingly familiar voice yelled in my ear as he latched onto my shoulders pulling me against him.
And I was sadly mistaken.
Happiness is now gone.
Ava's eyes lit up as she gazed at the two of us; me trying to squirm out of his hold and him smiling happily down at me just tightening his hold on me daring me to even try to get out of his impossible grip. She wiggled her eyebrows at me.
"So who's this?" She asked suggestively.
"Don't even think about it Ava. He's nothing just an enormously annoying classmate." I stared daggers at him as I tried to bite his arm.
I thought i felt a bit of pain from him but I must've been mistaken.
"Wow Sky!" Christian gasped putting our heads together. "I thought we had something special between us. How could you act like what we have is nothing?!"
He feigned hurt wiping an imaginary tear from his eye.
"Oh would you shut up and let me go already. My mood is already ruined and I'd rather not smell like you too. That'd just be a cherry on top of the cupcake of devastation." I groaned running my hands down my face, already giving up on trying to escape his hold.
He began to rub against me so I would completely smell like his gross, overpowering cologne. I gagged at the smell of it.
Great now I probably have to go burn one of my favorite outfits. Fantastic, just fantastic.....
"Now you completely smell like me love, hopefully no boys will come for you now knowing you're mine." He smirked.
"Aaaaaaawe!!! I wish Kaden was like that with me!" Ava gushed.
"Or they'll just think I wear dude cologne." I dead panned. "Now what do you want Christian?"
"Can't a guy want to spend time with his favorite girl?" He winked.
"Okay seriously, get off me before I vomit all over you."
His face paled and his arms instantly flung off of me giving me the chance to run to safety behind Ava.
"Now shoo." I motioned with my hand. "Begone Satan!" I made a cross with my middle fingers "The power of Christ compels you!"
The two of them just laughed at me until Christian started coughing and scratching at his throat. I got closer to him my fingers still in a cross held out to him. The closer I got the more to him the worse he got. He started screaming out as I was only an inch away and then fell to the ground. I put my hands down and looked back at Ava who stood there almost scared looking. He didn't move, I couldn't even see his breathing.
"I knew he was a demon but not literally...." I said. "And shouldn't using my middle finger null the effect? Oh well, whatever. Let's go."
I began to walk away but Ava grabbed my arm.
"We can't just leave him here! Go see if he's alive or something!" She told me.
"Eh, there's cops all through this mall. They'll find him at some point." I reasoned.
Why should I have to take care of the demon playboys body? Did I come here with him? No. Did I call him here? No. Am I his friend? Hell no! Am I associated with him? I'll go with no for that one too.
"Skylar!"
"Fiiiiiiiiiiii~ne" I pouted.
I slowly walked over to his body laying there and reached out to check his pulse. Suddenly his arm shot out and grabbed my wrist pulling me down on top of him. His arms wrapped around me in a bear hug as I tried to squirm away.
"Didn't think you could get rid of me that easily did ya?" He grinned.
"If only....." I sighed.
He leaned in to whisper in my ear. "I may not be an actual demon but if you let me in your bed I'll take you to hell and you'll never wanna come back."
A shiver ran down my spine and I made an even bigger attempt to escape from him. I pushed both of my legs against his stomach in order to propel myself off him and pushed one hand against his annoying smirking face while the other was trying to push off his iron grip he had around my waist.
"Skylar?" A familiar voice called out.
The two of us froze in our position.
"Elliot..." I gasped.
Shït.
