This one is a little confusing. Bare with me here. 😓😛
Evan clutched the teddy bear he was holding in his pocket as he walked down the dark street. It was 11 PM on a Monday night, so no one could be seen doing anything.
The dense fog covered the streets in a gray mist, seemingly making the night to appear lighter, somehow. He smiled as he walked down the sidewalk and whistled softly to himself. Tonight, he was going somewhere special, going to see someone special, who's hands were soft and warm, who's eyes were welcoming and bright, who's laughter and personality could transform a room of boredom to a energetic, hyperactive party.
That's why he became so nervous when he rounded the corner. His hand brushed the rough bricks, peering down the dark alleyway. The moonlight lit his path as he took a deep breath and pushed himself forward, eager to arrive to him.
"Jonathan." He greeted, pulling the item out of his pocket as he walked forward towards the figure lying on the ground.
"Hey, Love. I'm here." He whispered, gently caressing his cheek.
Jonathan was dressed in two jackets, lying down on the concrete floor, only protecting him from the cold with a couple newspapers lying beneath him. His clothes were only a bit ragged and he had old shoes, while Evan's clothes were barely holding on. His rough feet were bare, but he had no feeling in them anymore.
Evan chuckled and placed the teddy bear beside his sleeping boyfriend, before pulling him up into his lap and running his fingers through his hair, which was dirty and ragged. "I love you so much, Jon." He whispered, wrapping one of the sick boy's arms around the fluffy teddy bear.
Jon's eyes slowly opened, surprised by the sight of Evan. He smiled and raised a weak hand toward's his face. "H-Hi, Ev." He managed, coughing a little at the end.
Evan choked on his tears and grasped him closer to himself. "Hi, Baby." He muttered, only loud enough to where he could hear. "You feel any better?"
"N-Not really.." Jon spoke again, his voice charred and broken. "But don't worry." He said, noticing the hurt smile on his boyfriend's face. "I might be better soon."
Evan now had tears streaming down his face. "But- he said it would work!"
Jon smiled sadly at him and cuddled closer to him. "It's alright, Ev, it's okay. I'm goanna be fine."
Evan wiped the tears from his eyes and began to shake. "No you won't." He argued. "You're..you're.." He drifted off, the tears clouding his voice. "Don't leave me..please.."
"I wish I could stay with you." He whispered, breaking into a small coughing fit. "I love y-you.."
Jon's eyes began to droop as he turned away from his friend. Evan cursed and took the skinny face in his hand and turned it close to him. "No! Jonathan, wake up! I love you, I love you!" He repeated, drowning in his own tears. He sniffed, begging him to return.
But, Jonathan didn't move, to no extent at all. Evan broke down and dropped the lifeless body, collapsing on the ground and filling the concrete with his tears.
"Evan, I'm sorry." A voice came from the end of the alleyway. "I thought it would help."Evan gasped as his eyes shoot open. Like a reflex, he shot off the bed and sat up straight, glancing around the atmosphere around him. His dark room, his bed, his dresser..
"Ev?" A small voice asked, rubbing his eyes and staring up at Evan.
Evan turned toward the voice and smiled with tears in his eyes, embracing Jonathan down onto the bed and hugging him close, kissing his neck, his jaw, and his lips.
Jonathan giggled lightly and gently pushed Evan off. "Ev? What's wrong?" He asked, feeling the warmth of Evan's hand cupped around his face. The obvious tears in his eyes mimicked the smile on his face.
"I.. I thought you left." He whispered quietly, leaning down to kiss his forehead. "Don't leave me okay? Promise me that."
Jonathan looked at him in confusion, but sighed and hugged him back. "I promise. I won't ever leave you, okay?"
Evan nodded and began letting the tears fall onto the sheets underneath them. "I love you so much." He murmured.
Jonathan used his free hand to wipe the tears from his eyes and smile at him. "It's okay, Ev. I love you too."
Evan leaned down and laid beside him, before wrapping his arms around the smaller figure and holding him tightly, protectively. "I won't ever let you go." He whispered.
