Craig steadily watched the building in front of him. With no hesitation he ignored his mother, telling him goodbye, before waltzing into the school building and rounding a corner toward the cafeteria.
Multiple students made small conversation around him, passing glances towards him in the hallways and laughing aloud with each other. Craig had friends like that- last year. Luckily, just seconds ago he attached his little lifesavers inside his ears as they sang a fitting tune. He had them turned down, anxious of other people looking at him weirdly for his music being too loud. Sippy Cup - Melanie Martinez. His favorite.
Tyler, on the other hand, was walking in the opposite side of the hallway, not giving two shits about the kids around him, who mocked and laughed at his "murder look." He had been named one of the scariest kids in tenth grade, and no one dared to try to ask him a question or make a comment about something. His earbuds were tightly adjusted into his ears, mostly held in place by the black hoodie almost draping over his glasses.
He kept his hands dug into his pockets as he walked forward, just trying to make his way to the bathroom. Unlike his fellow, shy counterpart, Tyler loved to have his music blasting. It made it so everyone knew what he was listening to and what kind of mood he was in. B.Y.O.B - System Of A Down. His favorite.
Once he made it to the gross-looking, ancient bathroom, he quickly made his way in and regretted it.
Tyler had never been a social person. He couldn't handle being trapped in a room full of watching, judging eyes as he nervously read aloud his speech for a certain presentation. Any type of person, whether it be old or young, he tried to ignore. Guess that's a reason he didn't have any friends.
A somewhat skinner guy, a brunette with a Bowling For Soup tee and some old, grey converse. He was in his phone in front of the sink, mindless and careless of what Tyler was doing, except for the fact he lowered the volume on his phone when he heard the door quietly open.
Tyler stared at the floor and quickly made his way to the door, before the random brunette spoke up and turned to him. "Hey, uh..sorry for bothering you." He started, clearing his throat. "But, do you know where Mrs. Mink's room is? I'm new and-"
Suddenly, Tyler felt somewhat slightly less anxious of social interaction as he had with everyone else. "Down the hall and to you're left." He accidentally interrupted.
Craig laughed a little at the sudden response. "Uh.. thanks, I guess." He replied, awkwardly.
Tyler stood there, unsure of what to do. "You new?" He asked suddenly, eager to escape the awkward pressure surrounding him and Craig.
"Yeah." Craig replied, looking at the ground. "I'm Craig."
Tyler couldn't ignore the boy's gaze, considering how short he was. "Tyler." He said quietly, shuffling his feet around.---Two Weeks Later--
"So, you're telling me you've never watched Resident Evil?" Craig asked randomly, whispering in the middle of class.
"Never." Tyler whispered back, smiling down at his desk and fiddling with his thumbs.
Craig held back a snicker and leaned out of his chair. "You're so dumb." He replied, not nearly as quiet.
The teacher, Mrs. Mink, cleared her throat and turned towards the two. "Boys, do we have a problem?"
Tyler turned his head away from her, desperate to block out any social attention, but Craig piped up and sat up straight. "No Ma'am." He spoke fluent and clearly, almost as if she were a friend.
Mrs. Mink gave them one last questioning look, before turning back towards the board.
Tyler looked back at Craig, who was now quietly putting his head down on the desk. He sighed and turned towards his friend, wishing their conversation had not came to an end.
Tyler suddenly came up with an idea and grabbed his notebook, flipping to a random page and scrubbing something down. His handwriting was messy and a little small.
Ugh
He slid the notebook over to where it bumped Craig in the arm. He turned to his friend after a couple bumps and looked down at the page. He smiled and grabbed his own pencil.
We only have 10 mins left of class.
He slid the notebook back over to Tyler and continued to rest his head on the desk.

Tyler smiled to himself and closed the notebook, keeping the page marked. Craig looked up at him from his sweater sleeves and returned the smile.
