Craig stared at his computer screen, no longer feeling the false happiness he played when he was on the call, recording stupid or hilarious videos to upload to the internet in hopes of getting success.
Except, the infamous MiniLadd, wasn't really MiniLadd anymore. Lately his videos had been getting less and less views followed by an increasing amount of dislikes. Of course, like any good youtuber would, he pasted a fake smile on his face and tried to ignore the hate spitting towards him.
And that's when he burst into tears. The darkness clouding his room only lighted by the dim brightness of his computer. Craig almost never cries, except when something very bad has happened, so this surprised him.
He collapsed onto the carpet and fell out of his chair, not caring whether or not some neighbors came to give a polite message basically saying he best shut up or else be kicked out of his only home. Instead, he buried his face in his arms and began spilling his emotions from his heart, which the carpet soaked up.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the door, Tyler stood, hesitating the option to knock on his friend's door. He had taken a vacation to the U.K. for business purposes, aka YouTube, but otherwise needed new surroundings to explore. He pulled out his phone, checking the time for the third time already.
8:23
He held his breath and outstretched his arm, almost rethinking the idea, before knocking quietly and let his breath go.
Craig tensed when he heard the faint knock on the door. 'Fuck, not another noise complaint. Not now.' He thought to himself, before forcing his body off the floor and to the bathroom. Surprisingly, his face wasn't too red and his eyes weren't too blotchy. But it was just the neighbors, they wouldn't care if he was crying or not. No one did.
Tyler was about to turn around and leave, cursing himself for being there, before the door opened and a quiet Craig looked out. "Hello?" He asked.
Tyler turned around nervously. It wasn't their first time meeting in person, he just never really hung out with him by themselves or hell, went to his apartment before.
He waved and smiled up at him. "Hey, Mini."
Craig's eyes widened when he realized who it was and opened the door wider. "Holy shit!" He exclaimed, walking towards his friend and enveloping him in a hug. A wave of relief rushed over him as he realized he had a friend who cared. Or, seemed like it.
They released each other as Tyler looked at him and crossed his arms. "Goanna invite me inside or what, Jackass?" He asked jokingly.
"Oh, sorry!" Craig said, going on the room and holding the door opened for his friend, who followed behind and looked around the room. "Sorry it looks like shit. I wasn't expecting anyone." He said as he shut the door behind him.
"Nah, Man this place looks fine." Tyler replied, looking back over at his friend. "It don't look any worse than my fucking place. That's the real shithole."
Craig managed a fake laugh and guided his friend to the living room, sitting down carefully and turning on the T.V. "So, why are you in the U.K.?" He asked as Tyler sat beside him.
"For YouTube." He answered like it was obvious. "There's a convention here in a couple days and I wanted to get here early so I could explore a 'lil bit, ya know?"
Craig nodded. "Yeah. I didn't know there was a convention."
Tyler's eyes widened as if someone had died directly in front of him. "Seriously? I thought everyone knew about that shit!"
Craig shook his head and looked at the ground, fiddling with his thumbs while his eye twitched slightly. No one had informed him of the event, no one invited him or said anything. "N-No..no one told me." He stuttered honestly.
"Oh.." Tyler said, catching some of his friend's negativity. "That's alright. You can come with me if you want."
He shook his head again and tensed up. "No thanks. There's no reason to go."
"What?!" Tyler exclaimed. "Your fans would fucking kill to see you there!"
That sentence silenced him. It was as if a gun had been pointed at his head and the trigger had been pulled, but there was no bullet. "Seriously, Tyler, I don't want to go." He muttered, wrapping his arms around himself like a straight jacket.
"C'mon, Man!" Tyler attempted to persuade. "You don't want to disappoint everyone do you-"
"I'm already a fucking disappointment." Craig interrupted sternly, basically battling his tears at this point. He stood up out of the comfortable couch seat and snapped. "I don't have any fucking fans anymore! You, Evan, Jon, Marcel- all of you are the important ones! Not me!" He yelled, giving zero fucks whether or not the neighbors scolded him.
Tyler stood up with him and kept a distance between them. "Craig, what are you talking about?" He asked seriously.
Craig felt the tears overcome him as he lost the battle. "Everyone hates me.." He muttered, loud enough to where Tyler could hear. "No one fucking cares anymore."
Tyler shook his head and walked over to his friend, putting a hand on his shoulder. "That's not true, Mini."
"Yes it fucking is!" He argued, backing away from Tyler.
Tyler rolled his eyes and grabbed Craig's arm. "C'mon, you still have fans. That like to dislike ratio is close, but the likes will always be more. Your videos may not have as many views as they used to, but you still have views.. and at least some of them are from me."
"What..?" Craig asked, looking up. "What about the bad comments-"
This time, Tyler looked him in the eyes and got closer to him. "What about the good ones?"
Craig was silenced and found himself crying into his friend's shoulder. "I'm sorry.." He whispered.
Tyler rubbed his back and shushed him quietly. "It's alright, Mini." He replied, holding him tighter. "You're important, you know?"
"What?" Craig muttered, regaining his strength but still holding onto his friend. "What the hell's that supposed to mean?"
Tyler chuckled and smiled. "People watch my videos just to see you in them. Whenever you don't play the Banana Bus crew is never complete. As fucking cheesy as that sounds, I really do believe you're fucking important than just a background character."
Craig found himself smiled and dug himself deeper into his friend's embrace. "Thanks." He said, holding onto him for dear life.
"Hey..um, there's more to why I came to the U.K." Tyler said, clearing his throat.
Craig released him, his arms still on Tyler's shoulders while Tyler had his arms around Craig's waist. "What is it?" He asked.
Tyler smiled. "Craig, I.." He hesitated. "Listen, I don't know how to explain this and I don't know if you'll hate me after this.. I'm kinda hoping for the best here." He admitted, staring into his friend's eyes.
"What is it-"
A new warmth spread to Craig's lips and the surprise rushed through his veins. 'Is he.. kissing me?' He thought to himself, flabbergasted by the sudden move.
The new warmth was gone as Tyler moved away, clearly agitated and anxious. "Sorry, Craig." He said quickly, backing away from him. "I'll go."
Before he had the chance to walk out the door, Craig grabbed his sleeve. Tyler looked up, a little surprised, and met his gaze.
"Stay." Craig said, smiling, pulling his 'friend' closer to him.
Tyler smiled and instantly grabbed his friend back, pulling him in for another kiss. Craig gratefully kissed back and felt the emptiness in his heart slowly fill back in.
Fireworks erupted in their hearts as the two slowly pulled away. "I love you." Craig whispered, grabbing onto Tyler's collar and pulling him in again.
Tyler pulled away and placed a piece of Craig's brunette hair behind his hair. "I fucking love you too, you adorable dumbass."
Craig laughed and kissed him one more time, before pulling him over to the couch as the two continued their passionate kiss. He climbed on top of Tyler's lap and kissed him deeper.
"Feel better now?" Tyler asked as he rested his forehead against Craig's.
"More than better."
