I Knew

I knew there was something more to his smile
That always captivated me to stare for a while
There was beauty in the lines than ran down his body
And in the book of life, he was not no one but somebody

I knew there was something more than what he said
That always made me ponder and overthink with my head
There were secrets and codes in the words he would say
And he'd always be cautious not to lead himself astray

I knew there was a heart beneath his skycraping pride
That always made look past the things he'd try to hide
At the end we'd end up just the same
Like two parts of a whole just with different names

I knew that there was doubt behind his confidence
And commited mistakes that made him fear the consequence
Beneath all that charisma and fun,
Was a just another fleeting boy on the run.
