The Enterprise

Ladybug's POV

Bags in hand, Ami and I walk up to the launch bay.

"Bags over there, people over here," one of the instructors says.

We nod and do as she says. We get on the shuttle for the Enterprise and take off. The ride there goes smoothly and is uneventful.

When we get there we walk off and look around excitedly. I immediately know I'm going to explore every inch of this ship, whether they like it or not. I get the mischievous glint in my eye I know I always get when plotting.

"Hello ladies," a voice says pulling me from my thoughts. I turn to see a man with a gold shirt and blonde-brown hair. This is Captain Kirk. Oh. My. Ladybugs.

I don't display as much awe as I feel as I cock a hip and say "Hello, Captain."

"Are we plotting something?" he asks with a chuckle at my cockiness.

I blink and the glint is gone.

"No," I say with my best innocent smile.

He just shakes his head with a laugh.

"So what's your name, Ensign?"

"Nurse Ladybug Corbett, at your service," I say with a flourish and a cheeky smile.

Kirk gets a playful gleam in his eye as he says "A nurse huh? Must have steady hands."

"In your dreams," I say, with just as much flirt in my voice. Then I remember Ami.

"Oh and this is my best friend Amelia August."

Kirk looks at her as she raises her head slightly and then immediately cowers under his gaze.

"Hey don't worry, I don't bite."

"I know," she whispers. "I just don't like new people."

"Well it's nice to meet you. Oh you're the other wiz kid right?"

"Other?" I ask.

I think for a second. No way.

Then I hear a little Russian voice yelling my name.

"Ladybug?!"

I whip around, "Pav?! Pav!"

I run and jump into the smaller boy's arms, knocking him over.

"Ohmyladybugsiforgotyouguysareonthisship!ivemissedyoutwosoooooomuch!" I say, all in one breath. Then I realize I'm crushing Pavel. "Oops sorry Pav!"

"Don't I get a hug?" a voice says behind me. I turn and fling myself into Hikaru's arms as well. This time he's ready for it so we don't fall.

"Oh my ladybugs! I've missed you guys!" I engulf Pavel in another hug when he stands up. And yet again I remember poor Amelia. Oops.

"Hey guys, this is my other best friend, Amelia. Amelia, this is Pavel Chekov and Hikaru Sulu (or as I call him, Plantboy). We were the three musketeers until I decided to stay for another year to continue my nursing. That's when I met you."

"I'm not Plantboy!" Sulu exclaims.

"Yes you are."

"Am not!"

"Are too!"

"Am not!"

"Are too!"

Pavel groans and says, "Yes girls you're both pretty. Can ve continue zis later? Ve did come here for a reason."

"Oh yeah," Sulu says. "Wanna see your room now?"

I laugh and say "Lead on, McDuff!"

I link arms with both of them and Pavel grabs Amelia's arm and we walk (well okay, I literally skip) off down the hall.

Amelia's POV

Meanwhile...

We hand our bags to an instructor and walk onto the shuttle. As the shuttle takes off, I finally get nervous. What if I'm in the same situation that I was in at school? I sigh and turn to look out the window. The beauty of it all takes my breath away. I may or may not be in the same situation, but I should at least give it a chance.

We get off the shuttle and look around. I immediately know that Ladybug is going to drag me around on one of her "educational adventures". The type that included getting in trouble, which meant, and I shudder at the thought, getting attention from other people.

"Hello, ladies," says a man who I recognize as Captain Kirk. My new captain! Ladybug immediately starts flirting. I watch her with amusement in my eyes. I want to laugh, but that would probably make me seem like some random maniac.

"So what's your name, ensign?" he finally says.

"Nurse Ladybug Corbett, at your service," she says with a cheeky smile. Kirk smiles back and... wait for it... they start flirting again. I stand awkwardly behind Ladybug hoping she'll remember me sometime soon.

"Oh, and this is my best friend, Amelia August." Finally! I look up at him then look back down at the floor. When he's not flirting, he actually seems very intimidating.

"Hey don't worry, I don't bite," he assures me.

"I know," I say. "I just don't like new people." I curse myself in my head for whispering. This fear of people is actually really annoying. I need to get more comfortable with these people. I'm gonna be seeing them a lot for the next few years.

"Well it's nice to meet you. Oh you're the other wiz kid right?" asks Kirk looking at me from behind his PADD. I open my mouth to answer but then I realize what he said.

Ladybug must be thinking the same thing because she mumbles,"Other?" We hear a voice from behind us. Ladybug turned around so fast, I take a step back for fear of being hit.

"Pav?! Pav!" she calls out. She runs and jumps into the boy's arms, the force from her hug knocking him over.

"Ohmyladybugsiforgotyouguysareonthisship!ivemissedyoutwosoooooomuch!" she says, and somehow, I understand her.

"Don't I get a hug?" says another boy. While she's hugging him, I look at the first boy. He had curly dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. We make eye contact and he smiles at me. I blush furiously and look down at the ground. Ladybug hugs the first boy again and introduces me.

"Hey guys, this is my other best friend, Amelia. Amelia, this is Pavel Chekov and Hikaru Sulu (or as I call him, Plantboy). We were the three musketeers until I decided to stay for another year to continue my nursing. That's when I met you." Ladybug and Sulu start to argue playfully, leaving Chekov and I standing there awkwardly again.

Finally, Chekov breaks up the argument by saying, "Yes girls you're both pretty. Can ve continue zis later? Ve did come here for a reason."

"Oh yeah!" says Sulu. "Wanna see your room now?"

"Lead on, McDuff!" laughs Ladybug links arms with the boys. Chekov grabs my arm, making me blush once again.

I've got to stop making a habit of this.
