"g o o d b y e"
You hurt me so bad
I almost wished I never
met you. I almost wished
you never walked into my life,
because what we had ended
with you walking over me
until I was pressed further
and further into the dirt.
You made me feel
like I was only worth as much
as how you treated me.
I should hate you
for tearing me to shreds
and for carving my heart
out from between my lungs
then trying to put it back -
good as new -
after sticking your fingers
straight through.
But - even though I
will never love you again -
I do not hate you;
in fact, I thank you
for helping me learn that
I do not need to accept
your mismatched love
to feel that I am whole.
Thank you for teaching me
that I can stand my ground
and tell someone that no,
I will not forgive you
for taking me for granted.
Thank you for your love
because I now realize that
not all loves are the same -
and some are much colder
than others.
So thank you for your
time in my life.
Thank you,
and
goodbye.
