"To Feel As Though"

When he touches me,

I feel as though

I could fall to the

Earth's center and

Emerge unscathed.

When he holds me,

I feel as though

Nothing can touch me,

Nothing can hurt.

And, always,

He makes me feel

Like I am more than me.

I know.

He is just a boy.

I am too naïve,

Too foolish and reckless

To feel as though

He could paint me

Among the stars,

Or spread galaxies

Across my eyes;

To feel as though

He is everything

To me;

To feel as though

I could die tomorrow,

Happy, because his

Lips have touched mine;

To feel as though

He is me, and I am him.

Is his touch nothing but

A fleeting warmth

In this bitter darkness?

Or is his touch truly

An imprint upon my skin

That will stay,

Until death do we part?
