The day that seemed so normal when I woke up turned into the greatest adventure of a lifetime. I was at work, around lunchtime, and the shrill sound of the fire alarm rang through the building, and that's when I heard it. That sound would change my life forever. The sound of a bomb exploding. It was so loud it made the fire alarm sound like a crickets chrip. I jumped out if my desk chair and ran for the nearest exit. when I opened the door, fire was making it's way to the door. I slammed the door to buy me some time until the fire entered the room, but I couldn't think. I could hear the panicking sounds of scared people all around me, but I wouldn't let bad visions cloud my thoughts. I ran to the window, but it was a twenty story drop. I would die right when I hit the pavement. I just prayed for a miracle, because that's all I could do. Wait out death. I could now hear sirens of the approaching fire trucks and ambulances. Firemen where spraying the building with their hoses, but it didn't do much. The fire was too powerful. The fire trucks were raising their ladders to come get me. This must be my miracle, I thought. But it wasn't, of course. The window wouldn't open. the firemen couldn't smash through it because the glass shards would pierce me. The fire was already on my floor, and I would be in flames in a matter of minutes. The firemen decided that me being covered in shards of glass would be better than me being covered in flames. They raced down the ladder to get a crowbar, but they weren't fast enough. By the time they got back up the ladder with the right equipment, I was engulfed in flames.
