Chapter 5 (Hayes's POV)

"Does that answer your question?"

I think my jaw dropped to the ground.

"Mmhmm," I kiss her again and wrap my arms around her waist. I pull her close and she rests her hands on the back of my neck.

"Hayes, promise me something," she breaks away.

"Anything babe."

"Never leave me."

"I would never even think of it."

She smiles and blushes.

"Dev, you blush a lot."

"I know. It's really embarrassing," she blushes again.

"No, it's cute," I look at the clock. "Dev, we better go. Taylor is so worried about you."

She grabs her dance bag and we head towards her apartment.

"Thank you so much Quinn," I say as we leave the studio.

"Anytime guys!"

We get back to the apartment and the boys all look at us wide-eyed.

"Devyn!" Taylor screamed as she walked in the door.

"I'm so sorry Tay," she hugged him as tight as she could. "I shouldn't have run off like that."

"It's okay Dev."

We all sat down and started watching The Blind Side.

“Dev, do you want to go over to my house? We’re always here, and you haven’t met Skylynn, Will, and my parents.”

“Sure. It’s probably less crowded there.”

We get to my house in a couple minutes. The house is really quiet for a couple minutes, and then we hear a deaf defying scream.

“That sounds like Skylynn,” he bolted up the stairs and into a room with pink walls. Skylynn was on her bed, screaming and pointing at something in the corner.

“Hayes! There’s a spider!” she screamed. I stepped on it and cleaned it up with a tissue.

“It’s okay Sky, I killed it,” I picked her up she looked at Devyn.

“Are you Devyn?” she asked her.

“Yes I am!” she smiled at her.

“Hayes talked about you. He likes you,” she blushes again. “Hayes said you’re really pretty. And he said you’re perfect. I remember.”

“Skylynn!” I yelled. Devyn burst out laughing.

“Well thank you Hayes, and thanks for telling me Skylynn,” she giggles.

“Hayes? Is that you?” my mom yells.

“Yes Mom, Devyn is here too,” I yell back at her. She comes into Sky’s room.

“Hello Devyn! It’s so nice to meet you! Hayes told me so much about you! Of course he wasn’t here last night,” she gave me the evil eye.

“It’s nice to meet you too, Mrs. Grier.”

“Oh, call me Elizabeth,” she took Skylynn from my arms. “Hayes, you have a mess to clean up in your room. Go clean it up and then you two can do whatever.”

“Fine Mom,” I intertwine my hands with Devyn’s and I show her to my room. It was a mess.

“Jeez H, you have a mess here,” she picks up a shirt and throws it into the laundry basket. “I’ll help.”

We finish up about half an hour later.

“Hayes, we have company!” my mom yells from downstairs. I sigh and pull Devyn downstairs with me.

“Charlotte?”

“Hayes! It’s so good to see,” she sees Devyn and stops mid-sentence. “you.”

“Mom? Can I talk to you for a second?” I drag her upstairs.

“What is she doing here?” I screech at her.

“The Johnsons are in town for the weekend. Your dad and I are friends with Jenna and Chris so we invited them over. Just because your new friend is over doesn’t mean she can’t be over too. Be nice.”

“Mom! Devyn is my girlfriend! I can’t have her over when my girlfriend is over!”

“Well, I did not know Devyn is your girlfriend. I can’t help this.” She walked out of my room. I sighed and followed her.

“Hey Charlotte.”

“Hayes! I haven’t seen you in so long!” her long blonde waist length blonde hair flipped all around.

“You’re right. It’s been a while.”

“Well, what are you waiting for silly? Aren’t you going to invite me upstairs?” I looked at Devyn, who has stayed quiet this whole time.

I sigh, “You can go ahead. I’ll be up there in a minute.”

I turn around to Devyn, “I’m so sorry. I didn’t know she was coming. I beg of you, please stay. I don’t want to be here alone with her.”

“Who is she? She just stood her and glared at me!”

“Well, she’s my, she’s my, she’s my ex,” I stare at my feet, trying to avoid her reaction.

“She’s your ex!” she half screamed, half whispered.

“I know, I know, she is terrible. Just go with it. I’ll tell her as soon as we get up there.”

“You better.”

This could be interesting.
