"She wore Blue velvet...
Bluer than velvet was the night..
Softer than satin was the light...from t-the stars."
She wore blue velvet..
Bluer than velvet were her eyes
Warmer than May her tender sighs.
Love was o-ours."
Syrena sang her voice quite and cracking as she still held her mothers body close to her. She sent the remaining golden soldiers who were in the throne room with her outside onto the battle field. While she stayed, crying over her mother, godmother, friend and lover.
"Ours a love I held tightly
Feeling the rapture grow..
Like a flame burning brightly
But when she left gone was the glow of
Blue velvet...
But in my heart there'll always be
Precious and warm memories through the years...
And I still can see blue velvet through my tears."
"Sis?" A voice rang through the room.
Syrena lifted up her head and glared at the person that stood at the bottom of the steps. Hell Boy looked up and felt a pang of guilt. She was holding her mothers motionless body. He notice blood dripping down the golden steps.
"Oh Sis..I'm-"
"Sorry? Just like how you were sorry about killing Nuada?" Syrena asked.
"How did you-"
"I know everything....here to finish me off, hm? Saved me for last?" Syrena asked.
"Red, we're dropping fast! You have too-" Abe started but got cut off.
"Red, listen to me. What ever your gonna do do it now!" Liz voice sounded through my ear piece.
Hell Boy was surprised to hear her voice. How was she able to talk to him this far away from home?
"I don't want to do this..." Hell Boy said.
He dropped down onto his knees. Syrena let go of her mothers body and stood up cocking her head slightly.
"Please don't make me do this."
'Was he talking to me?' Syrena thought. He did look a little dazed.
"This is what I was born for. I must fulfill my destiny." Syrena said.
"You have a choice! Father always gave us a choice!" Hell Boy yelled.
Syrena walked down the steps quickly and stopped at the bottom a few feet away from him.
"Do you think I want to chose?" Syrena asked.
She balled her hands up tight at her side.
"My mother is dead! MY MOTHER IS GONE! AGAIN, BECAUSE SHE SAVED ME! PROTECTED ME! WINK, MAKA, NUADA!" Syrena yelled.
A sob came from her lips as she fought back her tears.
"He's gone....their all gone. And it is my job to avenge them! I want too! So go ahead brother, try to stop me!"
Syrena held her arms out at her side and put her head up.
"Take the shot. Because I won't stop until everyone of these pathetic, weak humans suffer. As for anyone who gets in my way." Syrena said.
"Sis, listen to yourself. Do you hear what your saying?" Hell Boy said.
Syrena put her arms back down and stared at her brother.
"This isn't you. This isn't the Syrena I know. What happened to the girl who use to read books next to her big brother, who's eyes always light up when father told us a story, who always protected her idiot brother even when he hurt her....who keeps hurting her." Hell Boy said.
Hell Boy sighed and ran his hand down his face. Syrena waited for him to continue.
"I keep hurting you and I don't even notice. I killed Nuada. Someone who meant the world to you. When most of my life you've done nothing but protect me and my friends." Hell Boy said.
"I don't want to hurt you...I don't want prophecy's to determine what we do. I just want things to go back to the way they were."
"So do I. But we can't go into the past." Syrena says.
"I know. But we can try and make our prophecy's, destinies. Please try, I don't want to hurt you."
"Why? Is it because we have an unbrakeable brother-sister bond?"
"Beacause I care about what happens to you."
He cares. She always had a feeling but never really heard him say so. He thought he cared more about what would happen to Liz and the other humans instead of her. Black tears joined the others that stained her cheeks. Syrena ran towards him and wrapped her arms around him. Hell Boy stood still.
"I know you care." Syrena said closing her eyes.
There weren't anymore tears as she embraced him. Hell Boy didn't react, didn't even wrap his arms around her. The pang of guilt was coming back to him, this time hitting him in the heart.
"Red, Abe and them can't hold them off much longer!" Liz says.
"I love you." Hell Boy choked the words out.
"I love you to-"
A bang went through the camber. Syrena's eyes widen and she gasped. She pulled away from her brother and looked down. Blood was dripping through her dress. Hell Boy held his gun in his hand, aimed at her chest. Finger pulled back on the trigger. A single tear slipped out if her eye.
Not Black. A regular tear.
"Y-you shot m-me?" Syrena asked.
She could feel the night shade burning through her veins. It was getting harder for her to breath.
"I'm sorry." Hell Boy said.
Syrena dropped down on her knees as she started to cough and wheeze. Her eyes started to burn as the NightShade dripped out from under her eyes, mouth and nose. It was more painful than when the crown forced itself into her body. The necklace she wore snapped around her neck sliding off and going into the floor. The stone stopped glowing and turned gray.
Hell Boy watched as his sister started to turn a ghostly pale color as she go skinner and thinner, her Skelton showing through her skin. She took long deep breaths as she started up at him.
"I was wrong....you care more about those humans than me." Syrena said hoarsely.
With one last long breath she closed her eyes. Hell Boy put his head down in shame.
Prophecy fulfilled.
