Chapter 3

After hours and hours of Doctor Who, tears, and getting to know each other, Melody had fallen asleep on Loki's lap. He smiled softly and picked her up before placing her under the covers of her bed. He shook his head. This mortal...what is she doing to me. I'm a monster, something that cannot feel love yet, she sees me as her equal no more a lesser being than she or the rest of the team is..why?

Mel's face contoured into fear. She gripped the sheets and repeatedly mumbled, "no stop." Concerned, Loki sat on her bed and tried to wake her unsure of what to do. He failed in waking her. Melody sat up an screamed her brothers name. Tony booked it from his lab to Mel's room only to find Mel hugging Loki tightly scared out of her mind

The minute she saw tony though, she shot out of Loki's arms and into her brothers. Tony hugged her tightly, "sshh Mellie you're alright. I'm here. Let's go get you some tea okay?" Tony picked up his sister and walked to the kitchen signalling Loki to follow.

In the kitchen, tony shooed out Clint but let Bruce stay. Bruce banner was the only avenger that cared about Melody like tony did, even though Mel didn't see it. Bruce had always been by the two side since they meet and helped tony deal with Mel's depression, anxiety, and night terrors.

Loki watched silently not know what else to do. Bruce went to go fix some tea as tony sat Mel on the breakfast bar trying to calm her down. "Tell me what happened?" He said calmly.

Mel shook her head breathing heavily. Tony nodded, "alright we don't have to." He rubbed her arms softly. Mel shook but her breathing calmed down a bit. Bruce sat down a cup of tea. Mel sighed and calmed down thanking Bruce.

Loki watched before walking over and sitting down at the bar. He smiled softly at Mel who smiled back. "Anthony, what happened?" The god asked confuse

"Another night terror. Melody gets them a lot because of her family. They're also the cause of her depression and anxiety."

"Depression? Anxiety?" Loki had never heard those words before.

"Depression is a mental illness. Some people can be born with others may be traumatized by something bad. They person is usually sad all the time but are good at acting happy and hiding their depression. In extreme cases, the person may become suicidal."

Loki knew what suicide was. A lot of Asgardian warriors committed it of the dishonoured Odin, the all mother, or their family. It usually happens because of Odin's say. He just didn't understand why someone whose sad would commit such a horrible act.

"Anxiety, "Bruce continued, "is something both the stark siblings have but Mel's a little different than Tonys. Anxiety is being over anxious. Being timid and worried over almost every little thing. In Tonys case he has anxiety because he's scared of failing, especially failing his late father, Howard stark.

"Melody has that but for tony. She's scared she'll never be good enough to deserve tony as her brother. She also has social anxiety which causes her to be timid around other avengers."

"Usually depression and anxiety go hand in hand" Bruce finished. He looked at tony and smiled weakly.  Melody sat swinging her legs slowly, sipping her tea. She hopped down and fixed Loki a cup of tea before walking over a handing it to him. As soon as Loki took the cup tony reached over and snatched Mel's arm pulling up her sleeve. He sighed in relief to find no new scars and checked the other wrists and again no new scars. He let go. Loki looked confused but didn't press on the subject.

Mel sat back down beside tony and leaned her head on his shoulder. He held her close and started cracking jokes to lighten the mood and get Mel to smile a bit. She smiled a little and Bruce and Loki soon joined in. Most of Loki's stories emboldened Thor being a dumbass or Loki having to get Thor out of trouble. Bruce told more scientific jokes which only the stark siblings understood. Mel soon started joking to and for the first time in a while she smiled a true smile. Loki never wanted that smiled to leave Mel's face but soon  it did.
