Welcome back guys, to the pack series~

Derek's POV

My paws padded quickly across the hard ground of the forest, it was my turn to patrol the border again.

War changes people. It changed everyone, Jake and Tylar had taken care of everything though, Chance and Eric helped as well.

The four became my friends, but I still felt alone after shane, my best friends, death.

I closed off from people, volenteered for all the patrols and guarding our pack lands, I deserved it anyway.

My parents were worried, and so were the four friends I had made, although I wouldn't kniw why, ever, they accepted me after all that I'd done. I hung out with them though, temporarily feeling at ease when I was near the happy couples. But it still didnt make me go back to the person I once was, because in the end nothing could make me go back to who I was before, and there are some things about me that I honestly never wanted to go back to.

Then another thing, Would I ever find my mate? After all this, I doubted it. If he wasn't in the pack, then how would I ever find him, hah, how would I even deserve him?

Yes, im gay, I've known it for years but still never told anyone.

I had no right to bully Jake before the war for being gay, perhaps I was jelous that he didn't have to hide it, and that he didn't care what people thought.

I whipped my dark brown head up suddenly, smelling a unfamiliar scent in the air.

But the scent was still familiar.

It reminds me of Jake's scent, and why is it affecting me?

My heart sped up and a strange need to find the wolf that had the smell rose sharply within me.

I could smell the wolf's fear as I moved ever closer, but not from me being here, from being alone, and hurt.

My heart stopped when I first saw him, then the need to claim.

Its him, it's really him.

And he's a draison too.

The cream coloured wolf saw me, backing up in terror, pain so clear in his teal eye's.

But there was hope, a hope I'd lost long ago, but now...

I advanced him slowly, lowering my head slightly to show I meant him not harm.

I saw the blood.

My anger boiled but I kept it down well, trying to calm his nerves rather than mine.

I need him, I see why, I need my mate.

He limped slowly towards me, meeting me halfway then letting out a whine.

He knew I was his mate too I guess.

I gently licked the blood that dripped down his right cheek, whimpering and nipping his ear lightly, I need him to follow me back to town.

He clued on pretty quickly and took my tail between his teeth gently, using it to trail after me.

I found the move adorable, and temptation to wrap him in my arms and never let go almost overcame me.

Almost.

I need to get him to Jake, only a Draison knows what to do with one of it's own kind, I mean, they could heal completely different from us.

We moved as quickly as we could considering his injuries, reaching the town at nightfall and the Alpha's house just after.

I was just slowing down when suddenly Jake burst through the doors, instantly running up to the cream wolf and sobbing. The alpha burst out straight after looking compleatly bewildered at his mates actions.

I watched jake and my new mate with interest, the new Draison licking Jake's face with a whimper, this is where I learnt his name.

"Oh my god Max we thought you were dead!"
