Pack Out (Wolf Book 2) (Editing)

So this is THE PACK

I looked around derek nervously, looking at the other people who were trying to see around my mate and look at me.

Being a new member is not what I had thought.

Every wolf in were' class was standing around the forest clearing, small groups chatting and watching me.

"Derek they're all looking at me!"

He chuckled, the sound soothing my nerves, and turned to face me.

"I'm not suprised, they would have felt you become a member of the pack last night, at full moon, whilst they were all out and about enjoying themselves"

"That's right, and I think I felt it stronger than most, considering we used to be in a pack together"

I jumped with a squeal, grabbing Derek's arm then glaring when people burst into laughter.

"Jake you scared me!"

My brother laughed, tossing his head back.

Beside him stood tylar, and four people I didnt recognize.

I looked at them cautiously, and Jake introduced them.

"Alright, max this is eric, the beta, and his mate, chance"

A pair stepped forward with smiles on their faces.

The smaller one, chance, thought for a second, before throwing his arms around my neck and hugging me.

"Welcome to the pack!"

I nodded shyly, the adorable kid getting dragged away by a chuckling eric.

"And these guys are Jessie and lorenzo"

They grinned at me, accepting me instantly.

Dayum all these boys are Fiiine, like, dayum! Nuff said!

I coughed awkwardly and continued to grip Dereks arm as the alphas walked to a fallen log and hoisted themselves up on it, Tylar speaking to the gathered and now silently focused crowd.

"Okay pack members, we have 3 hours of lesson ahead of us! Just like we do every Saturday morning! Today is a shift and run practice! In partners we will be split.

It is sort of a game of hide and seek, and the rules are like this;

Everyone must be in wolf form.

One partner will hide, whilst the other will use their senses to find their partener, spread out in the forest, not the town, and stay in our territory! The time limit is 1 and a 1/2 hours each! Understood?!"

A chorus of 'yes!'s when up, and people split into their partner groups, shifting as they went.

Derek and I were of course partnered, those who had mates were required to work with them, in case of emergencies it would be good to be able to track your other half.

I watched derek shift first and he nudged my hand, feeling the fear that rippled through my heart.

But then I shifted, and I could place my paws forward on the compact ground, here the noises of the forest, Content placing itself in my body.

You run and hide first

I nodded with a smile, knowing I could run fast enough for him not to find me.

Jake started the count down, and I was off.

I collapsed on the forest clearing, laughing my head off, now in human form, as a VERY grumpy wolf Derek trotted up beside me.

People in the crowd watched me in awe, Jake and his friends were laughing along with me.

"I can't believe for that whole hour and a half you couldn't find me!"

Derek growled sulking, laying on the ground and turning his face away from me.

I awwwed and ran my nails though his dark brown fur, hiding my snickers.

It was declared that it was time to swap, and let our other mate hide, so I sat with chance and jessie patiently as we waited a good 10 minutes before we went to find them.

"So Max, you're a draison?"

I nodded at Jessie as chance sat himself comfortably in my lap, adorably watching me, a hazy look of content crossing his face.

I smiled.

He feels like a younger brother to me.

"Yeah, I am. Its so wierd to be part of a pack, I mean, I've been rogue for almost ever!"

Jake and tylar sat with us.

"Five more minutes guys"

I sighed, and Jake laughed.

"Well little bro, this should be a piece of cake for you"

A smirk found its way onto my own face, and he evily matched it.

"Its easy enough, he's smart, trying to loop around to confuse the scent at the moment, but not smart enough"

The start alarm sounded, and once again, I wolfed out and moved off.

His scent was getting old, and pain was stabbing my heart, it had almost been an hour since i setted out in our game, but i felt this was no longer a game.

My mate is missing.

I headed back to the start clearing, howling at the alphas who sat bored on their log.

They stood rapidly at my desperate cry.

Mid stride i shifted, and found myself in tears.

"Max whats happened?!"

I sobbed into my older brothers arms.

"Its gone, his scent is completely dissapeared! It goes to the tallen river and dissapears! A-and i feel so much pain"

I felt jake stiffen, and i knew it wasnt good.

Then pain ran through my leg, and it gave, i slumped forward on my sibling, a cry rushing from me.

"J-jake! It H-hurts!"

Why do i get the feeling we could be in severe trouble?
