sometimes i have thoughts.
thoughts that only come during sleepless nights.
sleepless nights like tonight,
where i sit and ponder what life is,
and why i live it.

there are people who come into our lives
for reasons that can only be determined
by those superior to us.

many people come to teach us lessons,
both good and bad.
and sometimes, these people are taken from us
way too soon.

i knew a man who shall remain unnamed.
he taught me many things about life.
such as why i was put here on this earth;
or why things sometimes seemed so hard.

now this man, who was much wiser than i,
had told me something that sticks with me to this day.
'you are you- and no matter what that means to anyone else,
you stay true to who you believe you are.
and if you do that, i will always support you.'

since that last encounter we had,
this man has passed on, to greater things,
with greater meanings.
and to have known him, was a great privilege.

he will forever live in my heart,
for the lessons he taught me were for the better.
and the tears i have shed in his remembrance,
are tears of hope,
that he has moved onto greater things.

and it is people like these,
that we consider our heroes;
because what they teach us,
are qualities only imagined by those who
do not share the privilege of meeting
on earth heroes.
