*************************************************************
Brayden Cormack.
He was a seventeen year old boy, who was the captain of the cross-country team.
He loved to snowboard, surf, wakeboard, and his favourite food was vegetarian pizza.
He nicknamed me "Bacon" and I called him "Eggs", claiming that he was the feminine one in the relationship. He would just shrug and say I was the only non-vegetable that he loved.
"I love you, KayleeBacon." He'd say every night on the phone.
"Love you too, BraydenEggs. Don't get emotional, now." And then we'd hang up.
He skipped school for a week for me while I was condensed with the flu, and stayed home with me.
He was the best part of my life,
He was the one person my parents liked that I brought home,
He was the greatest math tutor,
He cared for me,
I loved him,
He loved me.
He died of a cardiac arrest on September 14, 2009.
"Please pick up your items at the front, thank you ladies and gentlemen, for taking part in the 48th annual Private Auction. Thank you, enjoy the rest of the evening." Henri Blackmoor stepped off the stage, then went straight to the person that stood up earlier... James Frederickson?
"Kaylee." Claira nudged me, and I looked to see the person I had just bought.
He looked so much like Brayden it hurt. But it gave me a wonderful feeling of joy at the same time.
When Brayden died, I died, too. Mom and Dad had to come back for a while since I acted like a zombie.
Claira was the one who changed me. She saw my spirits were gone. She took action immediately, and I began to move again, slowly. All those shopping trips were distractions. But, slowly, I could act like normal again.
"Uh, Kaylee?" Claira asked, snapping me out of my reverie.
I stopped to see Brydon walking towards me. He was fully dressed, and I was thankful.
Just then, reality dawned on me.
"You just bought a person. What are you going to do with him?" Claira asked, voicing my thoughts. "He's not a pet..."
She was right. He wasn't a pet.
In fact, he was a complete stranger...
That I just purchased.
"Hi." He murmured. His voice was a little rough and smoldering. I wondered what was going on.
"Hey..." I inhaled sharply as I took him in slowly.
So much like Brayden...
"So...?" he raised his eyebrows, his face very emotionless.
"Er... I'm Kaylee." I stuck out my hand. He just looked at it, and I was about to hastily withdraw it until he shakes my hand suddenly. His hands are a little cold.
"Brydon Brayer." He murmurs.
For a moment, I was disappointed. I thought his last name would be something along the lines of Cormack, like Brayden.
