Changing The Game: Chapter 5

Chapter 5:

The Ravine

Yes! Now we know the guy's name. He must be a hacker, seeing that he controls the mobs. I write his name down with a book and quill. Beast and Ariana come back through the door. Beast had smelted 30+ iron. He gives me about half and I make a back-up iron sword. Aria pulls out a clock. The redstone needle points toward the moon.

"Would you guys like a place to sleep?" She asks.

"No thanks. We have a house a few miles back and we don't want to set spawn here. But I am tired. Would you mind giving me a Drowsiness potion?" I say.

"Can I have one, too?" Asks Beast.

"Sure," says Aria. Beast and I both drink our potions and we fall fast asleep on a couch across from the table.

I wake again to the smell of bacon cooking and the sound of voices. I open my eyes and see the two girls and Beast eating breakfast at the table.

"Good morning," says Beast.

"Hey guys," I say. Ariana serves me a plate of bacon, an apple, and a cup of water. As we eat, we talk about what we should do today.

"Well, we all have had experiences with that hacker. I think we should band together and go hunt him down," Beast suggests.

"Yeah...this hacker killed my best friend. I want revenge," I say.

"Sure, we will. But we need some new tools and more food,"says Aria.

"We could go back to my place. I have supplies and food we could use," I say.

We all nod our heads in agreement and gather some things, and we follow Aria and Ariana up some stairs hidden by a painting. We eventually submerge and I am hit in the face with a ray of sunlight.

"Well, Jack and I came from the east, so let's go back that way," says Beast. We all nod in agreement, and set out on the journey home. We eventually start playing tag and other games along the way. Ariana starts chasing Aria a long ways ahead of us. Beast and I hear them laughing and shouting, and we start doing that too. But suddenly, we hear a bloodcurdling scream and Ariana shouts, "CRAP! JACK, BEAST, COME HERE!" Beast and I look at each other and run towards the girls. We are sprinting towards Ariana, and when we are about five feet from her, she shoves us both down on the ground, and motions in front of us. I look to wear she indicates, and all I see is a massive chasm.

"...holy crap," says Beast. I get down on my stomach and crawl to the edge, peering over. Aria is down on the ground, crying and clutching her leg.

"Don't worry, we're coming!", I shout. I start a waterfall down the chasm. We all climb in and start moving downwards slowly. Once we get to the bottom, Beast pulls out sugar cane and a crafting table.

"What the heck are you gonna do with those?" We all ask him.

"Just wait," he replies, annoyed. We watch him work for a few minutes, and he eventually turns around with a cast made of pale green rubbery material. Ariana carefully places the cast onto Aria's left foot, and we give her some food. I take out some sticks and, using Beast's crafting table, craft some crutches for Aria. Finally, Ariana takes out some leather and takes a few sticks from me. She uses the crafting table to make a small stretcher, and slowly loads Aria on.

"It's ok, girlie," she says soothingly. Aria smiles, sniffles, and puts her head down. She quickly drifts off to sleep.

Beast, Ariana and I all start collecting cobblestone from the bottom of the chasm. We find some iron, too. Once we have at least two stacks of cobblestone, we start to build a spiraling staircase back up to the top of the chasm, because we can't take Aria's stretcher up the waterfall. Once we are at the top, I start to sneak-build a bridge across the gap. I nearly fell a few times, but I managed to get myself and everyone else across safely. We start walking east again, slowly this time. Once the sun starts to set, we see the house in the distance.

"Wow," both girls say at once. I smirk.

Once we go inside, I get an Instant Health potion for Aria. She drinks it, and yells out in pain as her leg bone starts to fix itself. We get two new beds and make a room for the girls to share. It has purple and blue carpets and walls. Once the room is finished, I have everyone follow me to the kitchen. We dine on a feast of steak and potatoes, and also some apple juice I made. After dinner, we watch some Blocking Dead on the TV in the living room while eating vanilla ice cream. At around 10:30, we all decide we should sleep, and we move back to our rooms. I'm brushing my teeth when I hear Aria scream. Beast and I rush over to the girls' room. Aria is sitting on the floor panting...with a note in her hand.

"What happened?!" I ask her. Instead of replying, she hands me the note. With shaking hands, I read it.

My dear victims,

You have till Friday to (TRY TO) find and kill me. Otherwise, I will start picking you off...one by one. And it will NOT be pretty. And remember...

Nowhere is safe.

As I read it, I start to wonder why Aria was so scared. It was only a note, and nothing happened to her. Then she points at Ariana.

And there's a long, bloody cut down her arm.

But there's no weapon or tool anywhere in the room.
