Dakota's P.O.V.

It's been a couple of weeks since the entire incident had happened. Long story short, they took him away and evacuated us out of the house for the night. Mainly to inspect and clean up the bodily fluids that pooled onto the floor. They let us stay in a hotel downtown, and of course it was complimentary.

However, we're back in our house. I have no idea where my father went. Matt is out with his girlfriend, and I'm here sitting under the big oak tree, staring up into the sky. It was a gloomy day, which was my favorite. I loved the gray-toned sky, and how it always seemed to be brighter than the sun. The clouds moved a slow pace, and so did my heart beat. I was genuinely calm, which was pretty odd.

As I continued to breathe in the scent of freshly cut grass, I heard thunder rumble afar throughout the sky.

The beauty within storms and each clap of thunder holds a different sound, almost like cries. If you really thought about it, it was seemingly comfortable to know that not only people cried, and raged with anguish and hurt, but so did the entire sky.

With every whip and crack, my muscles seemed to release all the tension, and I eventually laid on the ground, almost lifeless if it wasn't for my steady breathing.

I closed my eyes and continued to savor the moment of tranquility until everything became relatively darker behind my eyelids.

"Matt?" I asked, slowly opening my eyes, adjusting to the brightness.

I jumped forward when I saw a complete stranger was in fact the one towering over me.

"What the hell?" I yelled, standing up as fast as I could.

"Sorry," The unfamiliar guy mumbled, scratching the back of neck, smirking.

"Who the fuck are you?" I inquired, stepping back a bit.

"My name is Michael." He replied, holding his hand out.

I didn't respond to his gesture. Instead I studied his features.

His hair was a faded royal blue, and his eyes were raging with different strains of green. He was rather pale, and dark stubble littered his cheeks and jawline.

"U-uh," He hummed in confusion.

"Oh, I'm sorry, w-what did you say?" I asked.

"What's your name? Mine is Michael." He smiled, lifting his hand back up.

"Dakota," I nodded, shaking his hand firmly.

"I like that name." He commented. My cheeks burned but quickly returned to their previous color.

"So what are you doing out here anyway?" He questioned.

"Uh, well, I come here to just ya know, kinda let go of things." I said.

"Nice." He smiled slightly.

"What about you?" I said.

"My mom owns this property," He replied in simplicity.

"Oh, OH, Oh my gosh I'm sorry, please don't get me in trouble, I-" He cut me off.

"Chill, you're fine. We don't even use it anyway." He said shrugging, sitting down onto the grown out grass.

"Oh, really?" I asked incredulously.

"Yup, it was my father's land, but he took off a couple of years ago, so, I mean at least someone is getting something out of it." He said in finality.

"I guess you could say that," I laughed, taking a place next to him.

"So how old are you?" I buzzed.

"20." He voiced.

I nodded, secretly shocked. He looked like a 17 year old that had an obsession with every metal band in the world.

"You?" He repeated the question.

"18." I responded, not looking away from the rolling hills in front of me.

"Cool," He spoke.

I didn't respond once again.

"So how often do you come here?"

"Almost every day,"

"Cool,"

"You say that a lot,"

"I know."

"So I'm assuming you-" He was cut off by a distant, yelling voice from behind us.

"Dakota?" I heard Matt yell from afar.

I stood up, wiping my pants off.

It wasn't long until Matt was within my view.

"Who is that?" He asked once he got a little closer.

"This is Michael," I told him.

"Michael, this is my brother, Matt." I introduced them. They too shook hands.

"Nice hair, bro," Matt said, gesturing towards Michael's head.

"Thanks, man." Michael replied, stuffing his hands in his front pockets.

"Um, I don't know if this is a good time or not, but dad is passed out in the kitchen and he's bleeding from his nose." Matt, said, pointing behind him, towards the house.

I looked at Matt and then Michael.

Michael's eyes were a little wide, but he didn't say anything.

"I better get going," I said, smiling.

"Yeah, um, see you around." He said, beginning to walk a different way.

"You too," I said, before throwing my arm around Matt's shoulders.

"How long have you known him?" He asked.

"About 10 minutes." I said, smiling.

"Damn, sis, you don't take long at all," He laughed.

"Shut the hell up," I snapped.

"I have to say, ya got game." He spoke.

I smacked him playfully up side the head. He just chuckled along with me as we made our way towards our deranged reality.
